The best restaurants in Carlow

04/04/2024: After your purchases at the market, the best place in the area to enjoy a beer or food! Excellent place!

03/04/2024: Good as usual. Went for three Tapas. On 2nd night kitchen was closing so had to have one alternative. (Not as good as first evening.) Reccomend restaurant and staff. Probably should pre-book. NB some options need updated, however a good choice.

04/04/2024: Had Caesar salad and tiramisu. The salad was a very lazy attempt and served in a crazy small round bottom wooden bowl. It couldn’t be eaten from the bowl without tipping it over the table. I asked for a plate and transferred it to that. That’s when I discovered the laziest attempt at a Caesar salad that I have ever seen. It was a head of lettuce chopped into 3-4 sections. Placed in lumps in the bottom of the bowl, covered in a thick mayonnaise based dressing, a sparse sprinkle of bacon, very little chicken and sourdough bread chunks untoasted. A few shavings of of Parmesan and that was it. No attempt to season it. Zero attempt to toss the salad and no room to do so in the small wooden bowl. The tiramisu came in a glass cup and was more like a layered custard with very little mascarpone, savoiardi or coffee. It was mostly liquid. The pizzas and pasta had by the rest of my family looked good. The restaurant was comfortable and had a pleasant atmosphere. The menu is quite limited especially if you are not into pasta and pizza. I know it’s an “Italian” style restaurant but it needs to up its game to Italian standards throughout the menu, traditional Caesar and tiramisu would be a good start. You don’t need to deconstruct them. The service was very good and the staff were pleasant. It was my first time there, but my extended family have been many times and enjoyed it. I won’t be rushing back with them. Two others had the Caesar and really struggled with it too.

03/04/2024: Great food and service. Great value for money, even half portions for the kids which were more than enough. Hope to get the chance to visit again!

12/03/2024: Great location to sit inside or out and watch the river flow by. Perfect spot to stop before or after a walk along the river. Food is good. Highly recommended.

30/10/2023: What a wonderful location to have a cafe right beside the river barrow, situated between Graiguenamanagh and Newross town. We went camping at St Mullin's camping site and the next day we ventured around the area to view some nice historical buildings, churches, graves of kings, rivers and found this lovely cafe which is probably one of the most nicest places to eat lunch, with nice scenery, friendly staff and good service. Definitely will return in the future, well done to owners and staff.

31/03/2024: As a person who doesn’t like beans and spicy food, I didn’t even hope that I could find anything for myself there... And the sales girl came to my aid and prepared a delicious burrito and an equally delicious bubble tea. A 10/10 hit happened and it made my day. Thank you very much! If I didn't live in Dun Laoghaire, I would come to you all the time :))

13/03/2024: My son decided to take me for brunch and usually am apprehensive going out but wow!!! You knocked my socks off...the lad who served us was amazing...I felt at ease and and I think he sensed I was anxious...he made a delicious burrito 🌯 and yep...I was highly impressed..😋 as he told me exactly what was in the fillings..(I cook so would know) but what surprised me was he was patient very professional as was the young lady that gave me a watermelon 'bubble' drink.. at another establishment years back I got a bubble drink and hated it!! He then suggested the bubble drink and it was yep..I absolutely loved it! My son had the tacos which he 'inhaled'..was the best time ever and definitely...I will let my friends (we're all on the well seasoned 60+ side) know and ofcourse it will snowball from there!! 🤗💃 Place is clean..tables are clean and not sticky..staff have gone that extra mile as the customer service is excellent and food I would rate as 10/10...well done..and when in Carlow visiting again..I will definitely make a turn at Namo's. Thank you..very memorable!!🤗😁😊

03/04/2024: We really enjoyed our visit here last Monday. It is so well laid out and each garden magnificent, even at this time of year. Bob and all the staff were very welcoming and helpful. There is a lovely energy here. And we would highly recommend the cafe, the lunch was delicious and very reasonable. Do pay a visit, its uplifting. Many thanks.

01/04/2024: What a lovely afternoon spent here. Great carpark, lovely staff on the desk when you go in . Really friendly chef. And the gardens are amazing. Great fish ponds and lovely waterfall s. And beautiful smells from the plants as you walk around the garden. Restaurant was very reasonable and the lunch was really good. Will definitely be back

14/10/2023: This is such a fantastic little restaurant, run by a husband and wife team. The food is very much French style. The quality is excellent. I've never had a bad meal here. Stephanie is such a fantastic host. Always so warm and welcoming. The village is also so pretty.

28/03/2024: Starters were delicious - Satay chicken and Pablo Prawns - couldn’t fault them Issue came with the mains - ramen broth lacked flavour and overall just tasted like a watered down stock cube. ramen also FULL of spinach - more than the meat or noodles Braised beef was all fat unfortunately - little to no meat and very little sauce. sauce tasted delicious and veggies were good. overall a nice place to sit in and have small plates, but main dishes are quite expensive and lack flavour
