Anglers Rest in Dublin

Fantastic day. From the very first conversation, The Anglers Rest made us feel looked after. The planning and communication were excellent. Always checking details, always one step ahead, and totally reassuring throughout. On the day, the atmosphere was electric, the food was top class, and the staff brought such great energy. Nearly every guest told us how brilliant it was. Special mention to Aggeta... absolutely fabulous. Thank you for helping make our wedding day so memorable. Go raibh míle maith agat Sharon and Jason

Went here for a wedding and the atmosphere and respect the staff gave to the guests and bridal party was top notch.

Lovely place for a Sunday lunch with friends or family. Food is very good. Service is well trained and attentive. Unfortunately every aspect of the venue is extremely un-wheelchair friendly. From the steep hill up from the carpark, to cars parked on the footpath all along the frontage, to the restricted passage and tables which don't have room for a wheelchair and table legs that limit wheelchair going close enough to the plate, it's just not worth the hassle if one of your party in in a wheelchair.

Amazing atmosphere. Very very obliging helpful staff and the food is totally delicious. Good kids menu. We were lucky to have live music when visited. Car park 2 minutes walk. Will definitely be back.

I was there for a Funeral lunch. The staff and service were very good. Anyone who has been to the Anglers rest knows what a lovely spot it is. There is a good car park but drop your elderly off by the door first. There is plenty of outdoor seats for warmer weather.

Excellent service, it really was. Food was very tasty, cooked to perfection and served on a hot plate, which was superb. A pet hate of mine is hot food served on cold plates which just makes it go cold before you've started eating. So we'll done for the hot plates guys. Service charge was included, and when my daughter wanted to leave an additional tip, the server said 'no, service charge is included.'. Incredible. You wouldn't get that honesty anywhere else. Additional tip left anyway. I cannot recommend the restaurant more.

What a delight. My first time ever invited to lunch, which became dinner at this building. I took a taxi because it's hidden off the beaten track. Goosebumps. It was built while Queen Elizabeth 1st tackled Sarsfield. The outside terrace is superb for smokers, cigars these days. The attention to detail is simple genius. They have simply restored old Bessie into the firery Dragon that once lived here. It feels like an old ship inside the belly of the beast. The smell of the wood burning, the separate lit candles at each table giving surreal lighting. The 3 trad musicians struck up a chord and was transported in time back to Isolde and Tristan, whose house I passed earlier in the taxi. The beautiful chaple. The high drystone walls behind which the trees slope down to the banks of the Liffey. It doesn't matter what food you order, it's perfection. The smells, the tastes, the sights, the sounds, the feel of the Ancient wooden timbers and pictures, the warmth, the feeling of nostalgia, the feeling of belonging. That's it. Belonging. The only thing missing was you. I hope Wright's are paying this team of workhorses enough because when I open my restaurant I will be poaching the best. I feel a Michelin star or two or three nearby. Outstanding experience. It was the first time me and my family were able to celebrate my youngest sister's birthday for many years because she moved to Australia almost 30 years ago. When you make your reservation, make sure to ask Ollie to give you one of his songs from the Shelbourne days. Taxi is preferable because the hills and bridges kept it away from preying eyes for over 400 years. Enjoy.

Very nice and cosy place. I love coming here, it never disappoints. Every time we’re around in D15, we always come here for food. The food is great and the service is amazing — we’ve never had any issues. It’s a perfect place to catch up with friends, celebrate something, or just come in for lunch or dinner. Thanks for the great service.
