Avant Cafe/Restaurant in Dublin

Really good cafe, it didn't make us wait for a long time to get our food. Nice music, furniture and food of cource. I like it)

I had kept an eye on Avant for a while as the place looked interesting but the occasion was never the right one to try it for the first time. We finally got there for a brunch with a couple of friends. The place is nice and feels more welcoming from the inside than it looks from the outside. All the cakes are on display, which I always like. The menu was bigger than I was expecting and with a lot of interesting option. Many of these were Italian inspired dishes. I finally opted for a sandwich that proved to be very tasty and with a sprinkle of herbs that added a special twist to a combo of ingredients that is usually traditional. For dessert I chose the special of the day and didn't regret the choice. Service was very nice throughout. I'm surely looking forward to going back.

3.5 / 5 Fair prices, decent portions (could be cheaper though, if they wish to be competitive). Coffee is good, and so was the pastry. But the Eggs Benedict was overcooked with mediocre sauce. Pleasant, quick service. Nice interior design and comfy chairs, but acoustics aren't great (e.g nearby table felt too loud).

For me, one true test of a restaurant is the quality of their Calamari, and Avant’s is sensational. Fresh ingredients, cooked to perfection and served the way it should be, crispy on the outside but deliciously soft and fit to burst with flavour. Served with a scrumptious sauce and roast garlic, best I’ve had in Dublin. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

Delicious. Scallop starter and crab both so tasty. The San Francisco fish stew was gr8 , maybe needed a potato to enjoy/soak up all the sauce... the dover sole was perfectly cooked, so filling, Returning next wk. Lovely , attentive staff. Thank u.

Great food and very nice servers. We had the mussels to start, duck and angle pasta and tiramisu to finish.

I don’t like leaving bad reviews, especially for local businesses but this place is so overpriced for what you get. Two hot chocolates that were definitely made from powdered hot chocolate mix amounted to over €10. I don’t mind paying for quality, but that isn’t the case here. Also the chairs are incredibly uncomfortable with low back rests. Won’t be returning.

What a wonderful addition to the neighbourhood. I had lunch there with a friend. I had the fish stew and my friend had the warm duck salad. Both delicious. Great to see such a choice of fish dishes. The desserts were gorgeous too. Service was impeccable - so friendly and helpful. Delighted to see that they have some products for sale as well ie plum puddings, mince pies, salad dressings and jams. Definitely a winner. I will be back.
