We always go to Avoca when in Dublin for the day, for either breakfast or lunch.
We were so disappointed with the new style of menu, which was confusing and at times just didn't seem to add up price-wise. We ended up ordering the granola bowl because it didn't involve 'mixing and matching' different items. The prices seem to have risen significantly since our last visit- €14 for the granola bowl and €6 for a scone - seems excessive.

Delightful spot, but portions and quality are fading
Avoca on Suffolk Street is a beautiful place to soak in the café culture of Dublin. The location is lively and inviting, and the coffee is consistently enjoyable, offering that subtle yet refined flavor you come back for. Their plated dishes are creative and often fantasticly presented—little bursts of flavor that keep you coming.
Lately, though, I’ve noticed a shift. The portions have gotten noticeably smaller, and what used to feel like generous fare now seems just enough—not quite as thrilling as before. Add to that a slight dip in overall quality, and it feels like the magic has dimmed a bit.
All that said, Avoca still offers a pleasant café experience with beautiful surroundings. If they can bring back that original joy in both portion size and quality, they'd be back to being a real standout.

Gorgeous build your own and Irish breakfasts, including roasted tomatoes on the vine, portobello mushrooms, hash brown sticks. We were sorry that we didn’t have room for scones or pastries. And so much fun to shop the five floors of Avoca goods.

We've been going here regularly for years and thankfully, the food is still lovely.
But wow was their new menu a journey in the wrong direction. It feels like someone is trying to bait and switch a primarily tourist clientele into spending more for each dish.
Beyond the fact that the menu reads like a custom burger shop over 300 year old Irish institution, it actually doesn't make sense. It's cheaper to buy from the right hand side of the menu and avoid the choose your own adventure entirely.
And if you're into charting your own path, the pricing still doesn't work. Eggs and bacon together on the left are 11 euros, but Eggs and Bacon separately is 10. Again, not sure what happened here.
Oh and they completely took away their kids menu, so you end up ordering stuff from the main menu and wasting a bunch of food.
I completely empathize with the fact that running a restaurant is more expensive than ever. But this menu change was a miss.
This store is superb!
In the basement, there's a grocery store with some quick bites and delicious scones!!

A stylish general store in Dublin.
The perfect place to buy stylish souvenirs in Dublin.
The store is spacious too! Highly recommended!
What a lovely place! Absolutely beautiful crafts along with a scrumptious café. I had smashed avocado on sourdough with an amazing pico de gallo, and my husband had the crab salad. We simply inhaled both, then hubby got pastéis de nata for dessert. Friendly service. Definitely worth a detour!

Delicioso almuerzo. El servicio era un poco inestable y tomó un tiempo para algunos platos para venir, pero vale la pena la espera. Personal amable en el bistró.
