A charming spot for chocolate lovers, but renovations are underway Butlers Chocolate Café on Grafton Street has long been a beloved haven for anyone with a sweet tooth. Tucked in the city centre, it's beautifully inviting—perfect for indulging in rich, creamy coffee and luxury chocolates in an elegant setting. Lately, though, I’ve noticed a shift. The portions have gotten noticeably smaller, and what used to feel like generous fare now seems just enough—not quite as thrilling as before. Add to that a slight dip in overall quality, and it feels like the magic has dimmed a bit.

Well it's butlers.... but that aside the cafe is stunning, staff are super polite and helpful and you get to choose a free chocolate with every drink you order

The staff were friendly and patient despite it being very busy. The chocolates are amazing, they even had vegan chocolate bars which I took home as a gift for my mum, she said it is the best vegan chocolate she has ever had. Personally, the coffee chocolate were my favourites, not a lot of places offer coffee chocolates and Butlers has several options.

Raheny Inn

10/11/2025: I only use the more traditional bar and not the lounge as I find it more relaxing. A good, honest pint of black. Delighted also to see the signage to prohibit vaping.
23/08/2025: A pub which is great for GAA games or Ireland football matches. If that's your thing. Very casual. Hasn't changed in decades. Crooners and wedding style cover bands are the norm on specific nights. Tuesday is pensioners night, where the retired community dance and sing to all the old classics. Which is wonderful to witness. It's a space for the working classes to drink and dance away their troubles and fall out the door, into Macaris for a batter-burger and curry-chips afterwards. It's a place to go if you don't fancy dressing up. Suburbia personified, but everyone leaves with a smile, with mascara running down their face and it takes 20 minutes to pile them into a taxi. It's a place to go if you want to talk, after a relationship break up or take your bit on the side. That's the Lounge. There is a separate Bar, which is a small space for old men to drink in peace and watch sports on the telly, who turn around every time someone walks in the door. Friendly and attentive staff.
