Murillo provided such a kind and welcoming service that it completely changed my experience at Butlers. He was attentive, friendly, and genuinely made me feel valued as a customer. It’s rare to come across someone who puts that level of care into their work. Thanks to him, I’ll definitely be returning to this shop. Highly recommend!

Lovely place with plenty of options to choose from. Have to wait in queue 2-5 min, depending on the time.

I visited this shop because it is a long-established chocolatier in Dublin. There are Japanese staff members there who can explain things to you in Japanese. The hot cocoa is especially delicious, and many customers order it to take away.

I've been buying Butlers chocolate and coffee for years..always delicious and high quality. However, I had to bring back to shop on Henry street product which most likely changed a bit due to the temperature. Lady (store manager) was very nice and proffesional anf exchanged product no problem.

Walking into this Butlers Chocolate Café feels like you’re entering a piece of Dublin’s sweet history. The brand began in Dublin back in 1932, when Marion Butler opened a luxury chocolate workshop in Lad Lane.

Since then it’s grown, but places like this café still carry that sense of care and tradition.
The café itself is beautifully appointed, right in the heart of Henry Street, making it perfect for a stop-off during city centre shopping. Inside you’ll find plush seating, rich wood and glass displays full of chocolate treats, and a warm glow that makes it feel more like a quiet indulgence rather than just another café. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, happy to walk you through the menu, suggest something special, or let you browse the chocolate case while you wait.
Service and presentation go hand in hand here: you’re offered not just a hot chocolate or coffee, but an experience. The drinks are elevated with chocolate flavour, toppings and that little “treat” feeling. The sweet-tooth in me appreciated the depth of chocolate options, the fresh pastries and the way everything is set out with care. On the flip side, the pricing is on the premium side — you pay for the location, the brand and the ambience. For that reason, I felt the value could be a little stronger in terms of portion size or extras included.
In short: Butlers Chocolate Café on Henry Street is a wonderful spot for a chocolate-lover’s pause — friendly, stylish, and steeped in Dublin heritage. If you’re after something a little more special than your usual coffee stop, this place delivers.
