Caffè Nero in Dublin

The location of this cafe is an advantage as you would love to have a coffee with the grand canal view

Very nice cafe in a great location on the docks. Stylish interior. Service very nice. Cafe was very good. I can't understand many of the negative points that were listed. The biggest plus point for me: While other cafes like the nearby Valentino offer delicious but incredibly fatty and sweet products that are far too big and too expensive, here they are of a normal, digestible size. And the fat content is not low but within normal limits, as is the price (for Dublin). I go there more often.

I went to Cafe Nero at Grand Canal Dock to get some work done on a Sunday afternoon as it is in a beautiful location with a wonderful view of the basin, all I wanted was a cup of tea, two sugars and a milk. I don’t know what the milk was but it definitely wasn’t from a cow as it barely lightened the color of the tea which if you are “tae” drinker like me means that it doesn’t soften the taste of the tea at all. It’s placebo milk. Make Milk Great Again is my new slogan! I also ordered a ham and cheese croissant which the guy behind the counter (who very obviously was bored out of his mind) I imagine just put in a microwave and lashed it onto a saucer. Was ok but I wouldn’t recommend if you ever find your self at this place and are peckish…head somewhere else cos 5 quid for a microwaved croissant is a little beyond the pale in my view. The Cafe its self is quite nice, there is a couple of tables next to a book shelf that I wouldn’t mind working from but as the service and products offered were mediocre at best, I wont be returning, not for these prices anyway. Also the inside of the cup was a horror show! I am after drinking a tea from it but the coffee stains and scratches made give a little dry heave. ITs not hard to clean a mug, they obviously rely solely on a dishwasher which in my experience never comes close to cleaning stains of dish ware.
