03/12/2025: The InterContinental Dublin is a splendid 5-Star hotel located in quiet Sandymount just SE of downtown Dublin. The rooms a quite large by European standards and are very bright and comfortable with old world charm. The marble bathrooms are sparking clean with tub and shower. The room features a coffee/tea bar area with refrigerator, desk, comfy reading chair with ottoman, and two bathrobes with disposable slippers. The entire staff is wonderful and accommodating and always has the time for questions. The hotel looks fabulous, completely decked out for the Christmas holidays. The Christmastime “Elf Town” is just around the corner from the hotel with rides and attractions for kids of all ages. Busses and trolleys to downtown and surrounding area are very nearby, and can tap-and-go with a Leap Card. Good grocery stores are not really walking distance. There is a Spar convenience-type store about 1-km away and the terrific Marks & Spencer Food Hall all the way downtown on the Grafton walking street. A stay at this hotel won’t disappoint.
