We ate a delicious fish soup with a slice of Irish bread, a delight. But getting coffee was very complicated. The waiters were not very friendly and were abrupt. But as for the food, I recommend it.

Had beef bourguignon, vegetable soup and some beers and all was good. Irish prices but nothing I would consider wrong about this place. They even helped me to recharge phone when I didn't take adapter to different electricity plugs in Ireland. Also gave me water to my water bag as in bathrom there was no cold. All fine by me.

The food was great and the service to. I took some friends who are Dutch. And they really enjoyed it. The portions are great. I think many of these reviews are just difficult American tourists.

Had a great time here whilst walking the Wicklow Way. Was a bit worried considering the bad reviews but we had a couple of nice drinks by the river in the sun and then went inside for food. Staff were nice and the food was good. All came on time and was as expected. Perhaps they’ve had a change of management!

Very well located for a surrounding visit especially for the local historical attraction or the walk in the valley between the 2 lakes. For the rest, it could be done a little better... dated decor, limited menu and passable cuisine. Could do better… let’s go, we believe it!!!

“In its own juice” is what jumps out at you upon entry. It can please, of course, but so does the cooking. The dishes are expensive for the quality. I'm still trying to figure out why my salad was called Caesar: not enough to triumph with a few salad leaves, 3 pieces of bacon and a little chicken for €18. Ditto for the sandwich and soup worthy of a highway restaurant. A good mark for the efficient and smiling waitress.

The Green Barn

02/06/2025: Had a late lunch here and it made our day. It’s not easy to find a place in rural Ireland that does food and ambient surroundings as well as this. Each dish was incredibly well presented, fresh grown produce from their garden, the taste was sublime and the staff organised, professional and friendly. Decor is really well done too. Our dogs were welcomed- quite rare in Irish eateries in our experience. We’ll be back and will be bringing friends and family.
02/03/2025: Lovely spot, great atmosphere, lovely staff, food was fantastic, a few in the party were a bit put off when they discovered they would have to pay to use the grounds which is a shame but it wouldn't stop me from returning as the food was great. They had no problem catering for coeliacs.
