So many positive things to say but in summary - hidden gem with great food, especially their steaks, at very affordable prices.

We were staying fishing for a week. As we do each year. Always a freindly vibe to the place. Chalets are perfect for what we need fishing and the staff are most accomadating and helpful. They do steaks and various tasty food in the restaurant and the bar does great Murphys!! We always book our stay well in advance. A true hidden gem in the Ree lake of Ireland.

Always a great experience at the chalets. Steak is divine and love the laid back decor. So homely.

Yesterday we made a 2 hour drive to The Chalets as a bit of a road trip adventure with my niece for a pre birthday dinner. For reference she has a ponchent for Higgins Butchers meat, American USDA Tomahawks and Japanese Wagyu... we aren't posh or loaded... we just don't eat rubbish supermarket muck. I've been told to go to the Chalets more times than I can remember and have even passed the recommended on through reputation lots of times. We had been told there is no reservations. It is first come first served. Get there before 5 to avoid a wait on a table so got there at 4.30. Even though they weren't open yet, it was cold and windy so they let us sit at a table and said the bar will be open in a few minutes for you before dinner service. It is an unusual spot if you are used to restaurants put together by designers and architects. This is like visiting your cousins house and he added on bits to his man cave. In the best possible way. Starters. Tempura Prawns. Couldn't have been better. Garlic bread.. brilliant. Mains. My wife and sister got the Burger and said it was the best burger they have ever had. I make burgers from fancy brisket. So I am more than upset! But happy to bow down. Juicy but not greasy. Great flavour. With my niece I shared a "Sharing Fillet Steak" which was perfectly cooked. Deep rich colour and for €42 a kilo of meat on a the board. 2 8-10oz bid barrel fillets with a huge lump of top end fillet. Cooked on the German BBQ Firepit. All meat is served on Onions and Mushrooms in a garlic butter that I would have driven down for alone. Chips to share for the table and a huge salad are all included in the price. Pint.. freezing cold as it should be. Wife's white wine was great. 2 prawns starters, 2 garlic bread starters, about 6 soft drinks, 2 pints, 1 glass of wine, sharing platter of fillet steak, 2 burgers, a forest of salad, sharing platter of chips €140. I may aswell have worn a balaclava for that price. We will be going back again and again

The best streak in Ireland. 100%. Well hidden away in the countryside near Glasson. 15 min from Athlone. The owners are really really nice people and the staff are really friendly. Big BBQ area out the back for party's. They have chalets to rent right on the lake. Love this place.
