My partner and I recently stayed one night at Cliffs at Lyon’s for a short getaway. While the location and setting are nothing short of incredible, there were several aspects of the experience that were disappointing.
Check-in at 4:00pm and check-out at 11:00am felt quite restrictive compared to other similar accommodations. That said, the grounds themselves are stunning, with quirky and character-filled buildings that are a pleasure to explore.
The spa facilities are fairly basic and would benefit from improved cleanliness and some general upgrades. Our room had heaps of character and was very clean and comfortable, however it felt quite tatty in places and clearly in need of repairs. The room was consistently cold, and there was a noticeable lack of privacy due to the absence of blinds or curtains including on the shower window, which looks directly onto the main entrance.
Dinner was a real highlight of the stay. The food was exceptional, full of flavour, and the service was attentive and friendly easily the best part of the experience.
Unfortunately, breakfast was a let-down. We had pre-booked a 9:30am time slot but were told upon arrival that the restaurant had been overbooked, resulting in a further 30-minute wait. Once seated, we were served average coffee and hard pastries that appeared to have been left out from the night before. The Irish breakfast that followed was also disappointing and did not meet expectations.
Overall, while the setting and dinner service are outstanding, several operational, maintenance, and comfort issues detracted from what could otherwise have been a truly special stay.

Service was scatty. Was booked for breakfast at 10am. Went to the dining room and was told there was a delay and sent to the upstairs foyer to wait to be called. 3 groups of people came after us and were seated straight away. I went down to the staff and enquired incase we were forgotten and was told to wait again . Preceeded to wait for another 20 minutes and eventually got the attention of one of the staff. Tatiana, she was very friendly and told us she would have a table for us. Breakfast was fine, but we were rushing as checkout was 11am. Location is in good proximity to Naas, Dublin. The rooms and grounds are well maintained, the thermal suit could do with expansion as it was very crowded even when there was only 10 people there. Dinner was excellent.

Lovely spot to visit for a stroll and to soak up the stunning views. There’s a small shop with some gorgeous gift ideas, and the café is grand for a warm drink or a quick bite. Well worth a visit, just be sure to check the opening times before heading off.

Absolutely stunning place to visit, the grounds are beautifully maintained, the rooms are luxurious and immaculate. The food at the restaurant was incredible , all the flavours on the plate balanced so well, every dish was jaw dropping. I can't recommend the spa highly enough the outdoor peat baths were an awesome experience. I will definitely be back to this amazing place.

The ground is beautiful and the staff were so kind and friendly.
The food was really good but a heads up if your partner is a plain eater the menu probably isn’t for them.
The thermal area was nice just wish I was clean daily. We went in at 10am when it was open and the jacuzzi was caked in layers of dirt.
The room was ok it had an older house problem. The wall paper was peeling off with stains on the wall and condensation on the windows.

The most beautiful hotel I’ve ever seen - I’ve been only outside on a walk, but was truly impressed.
I hope to get back there one day as a guest as well.

This is a lovely location; however, it feels so small and cottage-like that it’s hard to imagine choosing it as a place to stay for locals. There isn’t much to do. We didn’t stay overnight but visited the spa and explored the dining options instead. The estate itself is beautiful, with some charming touches and an interesting sense of history.
The food was very good, artisan in style and tasting wonderfully fresh. The spa, on the other hand, was just okay. It lacked warmth and attention to detail, and it wasn’t particularly clean. Strangely, the spa felt more like visiting a shop than a place for pampering. It didn’t have the ambiance you’d expect from an upscale spa. No drinks were offered before or after the treatments either.
Overall, there’s a big piece of hospitality missing here: client service. None of the staff around seemed to really care about anything.
