I ate here probably 1997, I thought it was closed, to my surprise it's still open and tasty as ever, the sourdough was excellent also

Just got cod and chips here. The cod was the freshest you will get in Dublin, perfectly battered and the chips were clean and well cooked. Price is slightly cheaper than average with friendly no-nonsense service.

I got the fish and chips and my kids got the gelato. Fish seemed really fresh and the batter was just right, crunchy, not greasy and seasoned nicely. Chips were 'chipper chips' done perfectly, while the garlic dip was way nicer than what you usually get in a traditional chipper. The real winner was the ice cream though. You don't expect to find outstanding, authentic ice cream with top ingredients in a Dublin chipper but that's what we got! Pistachio and chocolate was the winning combination according to my kids. Would recommend this place

Food is lovely - really nice fish and chips, but the sauce portions are very stingy. You get a tiny bit of garlic dip for your money that wouldn’t go near the chips where other chippers nearby give a decent size. There is also usually a bit of a wait here but the quality of the food itself is better than any other chipper in the area - I just wish they’d be a bit more generous with the sauce and then I’d be a diehard!

Sorrento Fish and Chips in Dublin is one of those places that completely takes you by surprise. From the outside, it looks like a typical old, slightly run‑down chipper tucked away in a rougher part of town. You’d never expect anything beyond a basic bag of chips.
But step inside and you’re in for a shock: their sourdough is phenomenal, perfectly crusty with that airy, tangy crumb you’d expect from a high‑end bakery. And then there’s the Italian gelato—creamy, authentic, and bursting with flavor. As if that wasn’t enough, they serve incredible focaccia, fragrant with olive oil and just the right amount of chew.
It’s such an unexpected combination—world‑class bread and gelato coming out of a place that looks like it hasn’t been updated in decades. That contrast is exactly what makes it unforgettable. If you’re in Dublin and think you’ve seen it all, this quirky spot will prove you wrong in the best way.
A true hidden gem. Don’t judge it by its cover!
