We were staying in the area and stopped in this pub on a Sunday evening. Everyone, from staff to the local patrons, was so pleasant and they made us (Americans) feel welcomed! We had the best evening enjoying the true Irish spirit. I want to return to this area because of our experience at Daly’s. The food was good and the staff were attentive. Thank you all for this wonderful experience.
The kitchen has recently changed management at Daly’s. We went for lunch long after lunchtime and long before dinner time but still within the lunch menu window which meant that the stew and the apricot tart made for lunchtime had all been eaten by those who had gone before us. The menu is very short and it is pub grub - roast of the day, pasta with a couple of different sauces, sausage and mash, steak sandwich, etc. Pub grub at its best is great comfort food, and this is what is coming out of the kitchen now if our experience is anything to go by. You party of three went for the roast of the day (chicken), the roast in a sandwich with mushrooms and fried onions, and pasta with mushroom sauce. He who had the pasta had said he wasn’t hungry and announced his intention of taking most of it home to eat later. That intention lasted for about one bite and the delicious crusty roll made in house that came on the side was used to scrape every last drop of sauce off the bowl. The roast sandwich came in one of the same rolls, crisp and crunchy on the outside, with the soft middle soaked in juices, and in the roast dinner the vegetables were bright and fresh, the mash buttery, and the half chicken plump and tender. We shared a huge bowl of simple, delicious, stewed apple with real custard scattered with buttery shortbread crumbs. It takes a lot of confidence for a kitchen to serve this sort of old fashioned country food nowadays. Daly’s with its current chef demonstrates that done properly it can be very good indeed. Main meals for three and one dessert with two coffees, two soft drinks, and a glass of Guinness came to €47
Fair play we were late for food as it had closed I think at 8pm but they allowed us to have food from the chippy and eat in the bar very unusual and most hospitable, the bar men were brilliant! I wouldn't recommend the chippy mind (NOT THE BEST) so turn up early for food and the bed in our room was so comfy brilliant sleep 👍
The A'la carte menu whilst limited in terms of choice, the food we were served was fantastic.
My partner selected Sea food pasta a generous portion with a wonderful selection of fresh seafood in a beautiful light sauce.
My steak sandwich was one of the best I've ever had, a lightly toasted multi grain hogey roll with fresh baby gem lettuce and sauted mushrooms a steak cooked to order Medium rare and beautifully cooked chips accompanied by a rich pepper sauce...
Great service, wonderful value and fantastic service...
The front bar was full!
The Craic was audible... but as we were just hungry we just ate......
I would highly recommend this establishment....
Quick lunch in the Dalys Inn with a great patato soup of the day with lovely homemade brown bread.
Very nice waiter and great atmosphere in the restauran/pub.
