In from the states and wanted to have a real Irish pub experience, we went upstairs for live music along with our dinner and it was truly such a wonderful experience. Service was beyond stellar, all the waitresses we encountered were so warm and welcoming when we came in and attentive throughout our meal. Food was delicious- my dad had the roast of the day which was bacon and cabbage and we all wished we had ordered the same- that cabbage was SO good!! Truly feel we’ve been disappointing my Irish ancestors by making such drab cabbage our whole lives- can’t recommend enough such a lovely meal 💚🤍🧡

A typical Irish pub, apparently frequented by locals on their way home from work. The Guinness stew is delicious, as is the panko-fried Wicklow brie.

We walked into Devitts pub looking to satisfy our hunger and toast with a Guinness on our first day in Dublin. We weren't expecting a culinary revelation, but rather a place with character, history, and a good atmosphere; in that respect, Devitts delivered. The pub welcomed us with a cozy and vibrant atmosphere, punctuated by screens broadcasting various sports simultaneously. Football, rugby, and racing mingled with conversation and beer, creating that pulse so characteristic of an Irish pub.
We ordered a Guinness and a lemonade. The service was quick, and the drinks arrived in excellent condition. When ordering food, the service slowed down a bit, and it took a while to get assistance, although we weren't in a hurry.
We tried two Irish classics: Dublin Coddle and Guinness Stew. The former was comforting and well-executed. The latter seemed good at first, but after trying other stews in Dublin and Galway, we realized it didn't quite reach the same level: the meat was tougher and less tender than expected.
And yet, it would be unfair to reduce Devitts to that one detail alone. Not all places should be judged solely on the perfection of their cuisine. Some are valued for what they represent, for the atmosphere they offer, and for the way they allow visitors to feel, even if just for a moment, part of the pulse of a city. Devitts may have room for improvement in its Guinness Stew, but it retains something that many more polished establishments don't always achieve: character. It's a pub with history, a great atmosphere, and an ideal energy for watching a game, sharing a pint, and letting yourself be enveloped by the spirit of Dublin.
Great pub and good value for money

I enjoyed the steak sandwich and my wife enjoyed the Coddle with attentive service and good live music. There is only so much Guinness to be drunk good though it is, so tried the 'red' offering which might otherwise be known as amber and perhaps by a prophetic brewer... Changing Times. Not bad at all.

Best pub in Dublin. Great live music. Get there early for good seats. Staff is the best. A couple pints and The Guinness Beef stew 🔥🔥 entire menu is great really. 🍻
Mine and my friends first time in Dublin and we came to devitts and had the best night of our lives! The staff was absolutely amazing, so friendly and helpful! The vibe in there was 10/10. I think Anthony deserves the biggest pay rise ever!! Will definitely be returning when we come back to Dublin!
