Everything is well thought out and understandable. Clean! Many cafes where you can eat or take with you. Near the station there is a red tram line and buses No. 2 and No. 4, which are convenient for getting to the center and the Ukrainian embassy.

Thank you to the staff member who ran a few hundred metres after us when we headed off running to the wrong platform (no. 1 in error). Thanks to his effort, we just made our Christmas Eve day trip to Limerick. Thank you. Thank you.

A small, little train station. A few shops around if you need something to eat.

Easy to get to with direct bus and tram access and a very functional waiting area and platform layout. Bathrooms were clean and readily available. Train departed on time. What more could you want from a train station?

Really great transportation Center here in Dublin. I appreciate they have multiple options for healthy food, coffee, chocolates and sweets, pastries, grab and go foods as well as a sit-down restaurant called the Galway Hooker. The station is dated but clean and easy to navigate through the amenities. We ate at the Galway Hooker restaurant and it was excellent. Multiple hot foods to choose from reasonably priced served in a walk up cafeteria style. All in all, this is a very busy bus and train hub well suit to serve the people of Ireland.

I just want to say how kindly we were treated by the Irish Rail employees. We arrived from US and had booked a train to Ennis to begin our tour. We asked where our train was located. The young man looked over our schedule and said, this was going to be a problem, since there were multiple train changes and construction along the way. He said however, there is a train leaving earlier with only one change and it will save you 2-3 hours. I asked if we had to rebook, he said no, just come with me. He brought us to the train, found us open seats, and got us settled. Later he came back and described where we would be changing trains. The young lady at our transfer station was just as pleasant and helpful. A great welcome start to our visit to Ireland.

Setting & Architecture Stepping into Dublin Heuston Station feels like entering a piece of Irish architectural legacy. Designed by Sancton Wood in the grand style of a classical palazzo—with Corinthian columns, carved granite, and domed bellcotes—it exudes stately elegance alongside the nearby Four Courts and Custom House . It originally opened in 1846 as Kingsbridge Station and was renamed Heuston Station in 1966, in honour of 1916 Rising figure Seán Heuston . Convenience & Connectivity This is Ireland’s largest railway hub, with nine platforms serving major routes to the south, southwest, and west—destinations like Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford, and Kerry are easily accessible . Just outside lies the Luas Red Line tram stop and numerous bus services, taxis, and Dublin Express routes, making onward travel seamless . Located about a 20-minute walk from Dublin’s city centre and close to icons like Kilmainham Gaol and Phoenix Park, it’s perfectly placed for explorers . Facilities & Atmosphere Heuston Station is packed with amenities—cafés (Butlers Chocolate Cafe, Insomnia, Galway Hooker), a newsagent, fast food options, even a filtered water refill station . There’s free Wi-Fi, ATMs, luggage support (with nearby storage at Tipperary House), smart-card and ticket machines, and a taxi rank . It’s also relatively accessible, with step-free entrances, a Changing Places toilet, and helpful staff . What’s Missed & Could Improve Despite its strengths, a few things could be better. The platforms can be a long walk from the concourse—especially if you’re carrying luggage . Some feedback has also criticized the newer LED timetables for being difficult to read due to small fonts and distracting colors . A recent review also called out poor toilet cleanliness, noting a strong unpleasant odor in the men’s facilities . Overall Impressions Dublin Heuston Station blends architectural grandeur with modern functionality. It’s a major transit hub rich in atmosphere and amenities, while offering solid year-round accessibility. Just allow a bit of extra time for reaching distant platforms. Despite minor flaws in signage visibility and bathroom upkeep, it remains a welcoming, efficient, and historically resonant point of passage for travelers across Ireland.

FatCow

01/03/2025: I’ve been ordering from FatCow for over a year, and their quality never drops. The burgers are consistently tasty and juicy, while the chips are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. My favorite burger in town!
25/02/2025: You can really tell they use quality ingredients and put a lot of care into making them. Every bite is delicious 🤤
