F.X. Buckley in Dublin

First time I’ve been disappointed at FXBs, normally so good. Ordered steak med rare and the steak came out well cooked from the outside of the steak and was only med rare at bone. Steak was tough and crumbly it was so well done at the edges. The prices have really taken a jump here now that this is priced as a high end steak restaurant.

An average experience for a special occasion. I have always looked at this restaurant as a solid choice for any occasion, but our recent anniversary dinner fell short of expectations. The food was a bit of a mixed bag. The oyster selection and Iberico ham starters were pleasant, but they were extremely slow to arrive despite the restaurant not being particularly busy at the time. For the mains, the white fish was a bit too heavy on the salt and sauce. Meanwhile, the fillet steak, despite being cooked exactly as requested, completely lacked seasoning and flavor. We also found the service structure a bit bizarre, as we were served by four different people throughout our meal. While everyone was pleasant enough, seeing a new face every few minutes meant we couldn't establish any rapport, making the service feel a bit cold and transactional. The overall atmosphere was also quite flat—likely due to the impersonal service and the constant rotation of staff. We hope this was just an off-night, but this visit was a definitive 3/5.

FX Buckley was recommended to us for their amazing steaks. We visited on a Sunday (bank holiday weekend). The food was great - ordered Chateaubriand for two; however the venue was extremely noisy we were sat inbetween two very loud tables. It is essentially a gastro pub where people come for drinks too and so it can be unpleasant - we had to shout to hear each other. Service is pretty average, we got one of our drinks wrong, were asked once if the food is okay and no offer for dessert et c. If I can offer 4.5 out of 5 for the food; the service and ambiance is a let down at 1.5-2 out of 5.

Booked for dinner for 2 in March. Started with the scallops which were like butter, delicious!We went for the porterhouse to share, cooked to perfection and so much flavour. Desserts were so nice. Staff were really friendly and helpful. You pay for what you get but overall it's worth it

We visit FX Buckley restaurants every once in a few months and this was by far the best steak we have ever had in FX Buckley branches. We had a chateaubriand, it was absolutely amazing. Will be coming back to the Monkstown branch more often.
