Grand Canal Hotel in Dublin

Booked into a room 217 with a broken window. Broken as in you could not close it without a large gap still evident. Shouldn't happen more especially as I had my young son with me. Surely room service had noted it to reception. Moved to a new room straight away and rest of stay was fine. Left a sour taste more so as I have stayed here many times in its past.

A great basic hotel close to the tech centre in the docks, but walkable into the city centre, or grab a Leap visitor card and go on the bus or the Dart (train). Rooms don't have fridges.

The grand canal hotel is a great place to stay. I stayed there on several occasions and the rooms are clean overall and well furnished. Some are a little bit noisier than others, and some are in a better shape than others. One thing that is driving me crazy is the soap dispensers. 50% of the time one is broken, which is great to dispense soap! Otherwise each press gives you one drop of soap! On one occasion the employee replied “anything else” when I just told an issue with the room, signaling that the request was not interesting. All the other times the checkin/checkout process was smooth and uneventful.

Not so satisfactory compared to other vendors in the market.

The Grand Canal Hotel had a couple things great going for it. First, it was walking distance to many great spots. The breakfast restaurant was a nice little place, and the attached restaurant/bar has a very good vibe. The rooms were decently sized. The water pressure was Amazing! Having a shower with that much water pressure is heaven. But the two single beds in my room wasn't that pleasurable. I didn't order a room with two singles. The service was near horrible at check in. It was as if it was a burden to them I was checking in. I thought it was just me, then my group of 16 were all saying the same thing, that the check in staff were curmudgeonly. Some stuff to work on.

Beautiful hotel ,was very disappointing with the dinner menu was not great but we decided to get burgers and chips No flavor in the burger and the small bowl of chips were reheated for 19.50 we would have been better off going to a chipper.The staff were very friendly lovely hotel
