Le Chocolat de Frèd in Dublin

I used to like the hot chocolate because it was really good, but the past few days when I ordered it was just the chocolate powder, no same taste anymore.

The mocha here is simply divine.

Great place to get crepes, galettes for lunch. Solid pricing to encourage repeat visits a great strategy. Unlike some places that open and try to milk prices for a French vibe, these guys are around a few years and have kept delivering good quality at a reasonable price. Gluten free buckwheat galettes a huge positive for us! Hot chocolate is a major draw here, though not for my tastes apart from in January and a little bit of sweet hot heaven is a must!

The food was good. We had waffles and it cost more to eat in so we got takeaway and they let us eat in. The waffles themselves were yummy and we really enjoyed them. We had waffles with chocolate and they melted into our mouths. Highly recommend if you are in the area!

My experience is with the new place on Nassau street. The food is really good, but the waitress there needs to brush up her communication skills. I was greeted with a loud 'what do you want?' which sounded rather aggressive. I had heard speak French to her colleague and decided it may be a language barrier so mentioned in French that it was a tad abrupt way to address a customer. To which she replied in the same tone 'oh yeah but I'm French'. I lived in Paris a few years so I guess it's a cultural challenge to move to a city where people are actually friendly, but had I not witnessed her colleague being courteous, it would really put me off coming back. In a city where there is so much choice of good food, the attitude of the staff can really break a business, I'd seriously advise the manager to provide a bit of customer service training.

Was in here yesterday for first time. My baby pulled my hot chocolate cup (full!) down from table covering the seat and table and floor. The staff (particularly lady with short curly hair) were so unbelievably kind and quick to sort it all out. A huge thank you to that woman in particular, she was fantastic and very patient. And she replaced my hot chocolate free of charge which was greatly appreciated. Thank you so much. Incidentally, the hot chocolate was the best I’ve had in a good while also. Thank you again for your kindness. We will be back.

A must visit anytime I'm in Dun Laoghaire! They have amazing galettes and pastries but top menu item is the Mocha with Hazelnut chocolate - it is the best mocha I've had anywhere and is the ultimate treat, especially perfect in autumn and winter. Very excited that they are opening a new branch soon in the city centre as well, can't wait to visit this one too.

I came for the cioccolata calda and I was not disappointed. Thick, rich, delicious, it was the Italian hot chocolate I'd been missing. Didn't get a chance to sample the food, but the gallettes look legit and I look forward to trying them!
