We arrived for a 7:30pm reservation and were left waiting outside in the cold and dark past our booking time while guests were admitted two at a time—at one point the door was literally closed in my face.
Inside, the room feels overthought but not comfortable, with a layout that has diners facing away from the room and dulling any sense of occasion.
The tasting menu format now feels dated: long ingredient recitations that are hard to follow and create constant background noise as each table hears the same speech.
The food was competent rather than exceptional—an asparagus soup, the lamb, and some chocolate were very good —but nothing approached two-star level, with much of the presentation feeling performative. We're talking bits of food hanging off bronze twigs.
Service was inconsistent: Ailish and Johnny were excellent, but elsewhere it slipped. I’d read an interview where Damien Grey said the room can be “whatever you want it to be,” quiet if you want quiet; that wasn’t true. A table who appeared to know Danien were loud, drinking heavily, swearing across the room, and receiving constant attention —you can’t market refinement and then let one connected table dictate the atmosphere; in a two-star setting it reads as amateur.
The non-alcoholic offering was also weak, essentially a single unnamed beer unless you opted for an expensive pairing.
Overall, this felt closer to a one-star or even Bib Gourmand experience at best, but for this price it's not worth it.
You will have a nicer time in Uno Mas or even Kickys.

The dishes were very tasty. I enjoyed the flavors very much as well as the creativity in each dish. Everything followed an idea, somehow connecting the dishes. However, having dined in other Michelin-rated restaurants, I can say that this experience lacked something. While the food was delicious, I don’t think it was necessarily the most memorable. Some of the dishes missed this refined sense of complexity. I feel like some of the combinations could be a bit more elevated and interesting. However, I really enjoyed the eel mousse, and the asparagus dish, which I found to be the most interesting. On another note, I feel like either a few more dishes should be included in the tasting, or the portion size could be a bit larger. Overall though, the meals are tasty and prepared in a thoughtful manner. The chef is fantastic, and the atmosphere is excellent - it felt very cozy.

What an absolutely amazing night. The space is very intimate, our service only had 12 people, which means you are truly in for an experience. The chefs cook in an open kitchen steps away from where you are sat and they encourage dialogue and question asking. It was truly special to watch dishes being prepared while being able to ask about their methods and have the staff gladly answer and engage. It feels a bit like you are at your friend's place talking to them while they cook away.
I could go into the food for awhile, but I think it is good enough to say that each dish was delicious while being unique and memorable. When you spend that type of money you want not only something that tastes delicious, but also something that you know you will not have anywhere else. They definitely pulled that off. My wife said the Parmesan eel cone served was the best thing she has ever eaten.
Truly a memorable night, and one we found worth the price. From the space to the intimate service to being able to being served by the chef, and the memorable food, it was all perfect.

Went about a year ago for an anniversary.
Very compact, but very cozy. The main chef was very friendly and even provided us an additional negroni jelly when we complimented it so highly.
From memory the seasonal menu was great, and there was a lot of food tricks I really appreciated compared to other 2 star venues I've visited.

You don’t go there just to eat, but to enjoy the experience.
It was our first time at a two-star restaurant, to mark our fifth wedding anniversary.
I highly recommend it.

Had the most amazing experience with the team at Liath.
The food of course was delicious. What was especially satisfying was that the chef used a wide variety of ingredients, vegetables and we'll selected meats. It allowed us to be try new tastes and textures. Not to be outdone, the staff were exceptional, warm, friendly and very funny. The wine pairings also brought a new appreciation of both the food tastes and it's textures. Who would have known Hungarians make exceptional desert wine. From the moment we stepped into Liath we were appreciated and treated so well, tanks to eikisha dn Johnny for looking after us and for chef... Maestro 😎 Liath is an experience not to be missed, :)

I really enjoyed our meal here, it's a cozy spot with tasty food. The bravas are awesome. Maybe a lack of options on dishes but the kitchen is small. All the dishes tasted lovely, one was on the small side for what we paid but very tasty. Staff were lovely. The wine which was recommended was really good as well. We will return.

Liath Restaurant has quietly become my family’s go-to spot in Dublin. Not because it’s flashy, but because it’s consistent, thoughtful, and genuinely comfortable to be in.
They remember you. Not in a performative way, but in a calm, reassuring one, they remember what you like, what you don’t, and they don’t make a big deal out of it. The service is solid and confident without hovering, and the space itself feels calm and unforced, which is rare in fine dining.
The food is where the care really shows. Almost everything is made from scratch, yes, even the salt, and you can taste the difference. Nothing feels rushed or lazy. Every dish feels considered, not precious, just done properly. You’re aware that someone paid attention here.
It’s fine dining without the stiffness. No theatrics, no ego, just a place that takes its work seriously and lets the food do the talking.

Fantastic dining experience. We had the lunch menu and non alcoholic drinks pairing. It was two vegetarian, two fish, one meat, dessert and petit fours. Everything was presented beautiful and tasted delicious. It's our first time going for a non alcoholic drink pairing and it did not disappoint, so much effort was put into each drink, they were complex and they all paired well with the food. The dining room is very small, there is only 5 tables and the kitchen is open and at the end of the room, you wouldn't even know the chefs were there, they worked quietly and meticulously. Damien Grey was friendly and interacted with all diners, bringing food to the tables as did the other chefs for the last course. With regards atmosphere, there is no music playing but its not needed and while the space is small there is enough room between the tables. The whole experience from start to finish was wholesome and relaxed. The lunch was great value for money.
