I absolutely love calling into Mackey’s cafe every weekend. The food is always delish & served hot. Coffee is great & staff are friendly and always up for the chats! Perfect walking distance from the forest too

Omg! What can I say about this unique so so friendly cafe! The food! AMAZING!! freshly baked food each day, I had a cheese and ham toastie (I've never had a cheese and ham toastie like it!) I also had a black pudding roll (sausage roll only with black pudding) if my cholesterol allowed me..... I would have ate them all! The lovely lady who served us was so welcoming and friendly, she even offered for us to leave the jeep at her cafe while we went for a walk around the forest, she was also so knowledgeable of the forest, guiding us on the best route to take and how to get to the war memorial for the local fallen firefighter who tragically lost his life in the twin towers (9/11). Honeslty, if you are in the area (or even if your not...) this wee cafe is an absolute must for a visit! The cafe is also setup for cyclists and even shows off some cycling memorabilia. Dogs are welcome in the plentyful outdoor seating area, whether your stopping for a coffee, snack, ice cream, lunch, You will not regret it! 100% love this wee place!

Mackeys Coffee Shop, nestled just outside the gates of Donadea Forest, is a must-visit gem. The staff’s warm, friendly vibe makes every visit feel welcoming. I stop at a lot of random coffee shops around Kildare, Meath and Dublin, as I don't like the coffee any of the big franchises serve. You would struggle to find better coffee and tastier food than at Mackeys. It's always perfect, everytime. Everything served is produced locally and is as tasty as you can get. Caroline is always chatty and pleasant and creates a clean and welcoming atmosphere.

I truly recommend this place, good food, great service and is just outside the castle.
