Mao in Dublin

Fantastic service, food was delicious, atmosphere was calm and relaxing

I recently visited Mao in Stillorgan, and unfortunately, it wasn’t the same as I remembered. The taste has definitely changed from what I used to enjoy before. We ordered the Tom Yum soup, nasi goreng, Mao wings, and kids noodles. The soup was quite salty and overly tangy, not the balanced flavour you’d expect. The nasi goreng was just okay, but it didn’t have the distinctive Mao taste I remember. Overall, the food felt average and a bit disappointing compared to previous visits. On the positive side, the ambiance is nice, quiet and comfortable, which made the dining experience pleasant. But when it comes to the food, it didn’t really live up to expectations this time.

Food was great went there more than once during my 2 week stay in Dublin. The service was efficient and polite, but they did not make a person feel confortable. The food was great! I tried some noodles, ramen and thai curry, nothing disappointed and I would definetly go back. The price make going at lunch a great deal. I believe it is worth it.

Tried Mao for the first time since it reopened. We rang ahead to check if they had a table available and when we arrived they had setup and reserved a table for us. The staff were very firendly and the service was excellent. The food was also great! Definitely will be back.

Really enjoyable visit. The food was solid, the pork gyoza and ramen were especially good. Service stood out as friendly, attentive, and efficient. The atmosphere was also great, relaxed and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit.

I‘ve tried Mao‘s for the first time. They‘re super attentive, kind and open to wishes. I like spicy food and requested additional to my already spicy food order. Amazing. If you don’t like spicy food, you‘ll obviously find a match here too.

We have eaten in Mao twice in the last two weeks, and each visit has been a joy. We are used to going to Musashi and were hoping it would be on par as Mao is more convenient for us. It exceeded our expectations. The meat (duck, beef, prawn, and chicken) was so flavoursome and cooked to perfection; the vegetables were so fresh; and the portion sizes were great (almost too good, as we couldn't fit in a dessert). The atmosphere was relaxed (perfect for families), and there is a good distance between tables, so noise or overbearing conversations aren't an issue. The staff were also so nice and accommodating. We'll definitely be visiting more regularly. Well done to all staff.
