While the food is good the wait is too long for it too be delivered. And when it does come it comes a plate at a time. They don’t have enough staff (only one) and had taken on too many takeaways so can not service the restaurant. It’s a shame as they are vey nice but totally not appropriate for a quick mid week dinner.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ After completing a 20km run around North London, I was craving a good bowl of ramen and stumbled across Midori Japanese Restaurant. What an absolute gem. My phone was on 1% battery after tracking the run, and before I had even taken a seat, the staff kindly offered to charge it for me. It’s the small things like that which make a lasting impression. Despite being only a couple of minutes away from closing, the waiter and staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. There was no sense of being rushed, just genuine hospitality from start to finish. I ordered the chilli beef ramen as my main, along with tempura prawns and an octopus starter. Everything was beautifully presented, packed with flavour, and arrived surprisingly quickly. The ramen was exactly what I needed after a long run. The ambience gave a real authentic Japanese feel, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. What stood out most, however, was the customer service. Even after closing, they allowed me to enjoy my meal at my own pace without any pressure to leave. A fantastic dining experience all round. Great food, great atmosphere, and exceptional service. I have been meaning to leave a review for this lovely spot ever since my first visit many years ago, but couldn't really ever come up with anything convincing enough of how much of a treasure this place is. This isn't your trendy new Japanese hotspot that's plastered all over instagram or similar. It's a family owned and wonderful little quiet nook that's been feeding locals for a long time now. I could wax poetic about the relaxed and quiet vibe in here but that's not even mentioning the food, which hits just about the same notes. My particular recommendations are Nasu Dengaku, their Takoyaki and if you're a fan of light warming broths then hands down the simple Kitsune Udon. Their Korean dishes are very hearty and perfect for a huge pick-me-up, especially paired with their warmed sake. I'm not crazy for sushi but I haven't had tuna anywhere else like I've had here. Truth be told I don't think you can go wrong ordering anything off their menu. The service is friendly and helpful, even when they're busy. It may sometimes take a while for certain dishes but I've always been warned and have never had a cold meal, save for the ice cream mochi. If you ever find yourself missing the sort of restaurant where you can have a lovely short chat with the owner and simply relax over the fantastic food like a home meal after school, away from the usual rush and flash then I can confidently say this is a great place to give a go. I can't remember a single visit where I left without feeling just that little more at peace with myself. As you can tell, I may be a little biased but it's because Midori has always been close to very important memories for me. I even find myself speaking far softer every time I visit, that's just the sort of effect this experience has. My only regret is not visiting more often.

A perfect experience. We came for a family birthday lunch (8 people) and enjoyed it from start to finish. The staff were welcoming and attentive, taking care of us in such a gentle and friendly way. All our food was delicious, and the calm atmosphere was perfect for us to chat and enjoy being together. It was a very hot day outside but the fabulous air con kept us wonderfully cool. We will be back!

sushi was the perfect temperature and consistency, miso soup was subtle, and the wakame was refreshing and flavourful - just all around great food. I'm not usually too focused on price, but it all felt like a steal.

Great family run restaurant with fresh tasty food!

Midori is my favourite restaurant whenever I need some nourishing food and a quiet spot where it feels homey. I know the menu well, and to me there is something reassuring about the fact that they keep it so consistent. Whatever you order is always fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented. The highlight of this family restaurant is the wonderful owner, Karen, who is one of the kindest women I’ve ever met. She and all her staff always make you feel welcome and valued. They are also incredibly kind with children -my daughter always gets the royal treatment :) Thank you Karen, and all your team, for making Midori such a lovely place.

This place is the real deal and so good value. I stopped in today and had fresh tasting beautiful sashimi and superb, hot, steaming gyudon (beef donburi). It was total comfort food and this is a neighbourhood gem.

Love this place but to have no 0% alcohol in this day and age is a glaring omission
