A cozy pub, much less frequented by tourists – a place where you'll find locals. Excellent Guinness at significantly better prices than in the city center.
Was told about this place, off the tourist trail, and half the price for a pint of Guinness than the tourist trap. Typical old world pub, very quiet when I visited but might liven up at night.
A genuine local pub with what in Spain we'd call regulars. Not touristy at all and cheap, especially for Dublin. We went in for a couple of pints and were served well. The music selection was good and the atmosphere was friendly.
On the downside, the toilets were dirtier than the Iron Lady's soul.
(By the way, if you're English, find out who the pub is named after before you're surprised if they don't greet you with the warmest welcome.)
My second time here. The first wasn't a very pleasant experience; we ordered two ciders and were served five that weren't what we'd ordered. The young man who served us got annoyed when we told him it wasn't what we'd ordered. The second time was completely different. The person who served us kindly recommended some drinks because I didn't know what to choose. There are always very friendly and smiling older people there.
