Pizza D'Or in Monaghan

Wishing David all the best, was passing through Monaghan twice a week in the 90’s heading to Cavan to see a young lady, was always told to get a supreme + a spicy tomato on the way through .Courting for 10 years…. cost me a fortune ! We’re married 26 years now, but anytime we’re heading up to Cavan, the wee treat was Pizza D’or GUTTED !!!!!!!!

Just class the best pizza ever!

First memory of Pizza D'or in Monaghan was during the 1998 World Cup.. Me and my brother put together what ever money we could find around the house (pocket money) ordered two pizzas then had to phone a seperate taxi to collect and deliver. It was the best feeling ever, constantly watching the window waiting anxiously for our pizzas to arrive. That feeling of excitement has always remained the same, especially as I got older and more settled, always looked forward to "quiet" nights in enjoying our favouite take away. I also proudly boasted about Monaghan's famous pizza when travelling abroad for a year to Australia. To my friends down south whenever we would sit in for a pizza I yearned for the taste back home. Now married my wife and I share the same passion for this pizza and always dreaded the voicemail over the holidays to say the doors would be closed for a certain number of weeks. Sadly all good things come to an end but the memories we share will never fade. To David (the owner) and staff over the years thank you all, you owe Monaghan nothing!! Thanks again and I'll drop by for the last time at the weekend. Best wishes and good luck 👍

I remember years ago coming back to Monaghan from a stint in New York and a friend recommended Pizza D'or. He said it was as better than New York pizzas. I thought he was crazy but I'll give it a go. He was right. It will be a loss to the town. The best pizzas I've ever had.

I’ve started writing this review a few times now. From tasting some of David’s pizzas as a child before he officially opened, to rocking up after nights in Master Deery's, to now getting pizzas for my own little family… it’s been amazing. Wishing you & Delma the best retirement… the shop will be missed but the memories will last forever ❤️
