Could be such a pleasant place but it's definitely over priced. A Rockshandy 7.60 euro????👀 Dessert at 8.80 and the crust of the apple pie was nearly burned. I was there before and it wasn' t so crazy. The bathroom, nice and clean, is downstairs.....lift is out of work. Badly need of improuvement

We made a last minute reservation at the restaurant for a table for 4 on a Saturday night. No problem getting a table either on the bar or restaurant. Dining area is pleasant airy and well staffed. Senior staff manage the dining and bar service very well. A large menu with plenty of options for everyone’s taste. At least 10 starters / small plates and probably 20 main course options. I opted for a salad, which was lovely and fresh. Also ordered were the duck pancakes and spring rolls. The starter prices are in the high end but all decent size portions. Main courses I had grilled salmon with vegetables and sauce on the side. Again all tasty and fresh. Hake and pea risotto along with ribeye and scampi was ordered to the table. Everything got the thumbs up apart from The hake and risotto which was a little over done. Risotto is hard to keep fresh and had gone stodgy. To finish we had some coffees, (decent decaf) profiteroles and the rice pudding. Large portions particularly the rice pudding. all delicious. When we finished the meal we were also left to our leisure to finish our evening with closing drinks. No rush or pressure to leave. Overall we had a lovely leisurely relaxing meal.

Myself, My Mum & Sister stayed here New Year's Eve. From checking in & throughout our stay, the staff went over & above for us. The rooms were beautiful, very clean & warm. We had dinner in the restaurant and it didn't disapoint. As it was New Year's Eve, we & everyone were treated to a lovely glass of prosecco at midnight. The menu was very varied and the food arrived promptly by smiling waiting staff. When we were checking out, the lady on reception offered to help with our bags. The only complaint I have is that we couldn't have stayed longer. If you're looking for a hotel around Carrickmacross or surrounding area, check out The Shirley Arms Hotel, you won't be disappointed.
