Best pub in the area in my opinion. Great for a busy match day. But I prefer it on a chill Monday, great vibes and pint

I have very fond memories of this place, which prompted me to write a little review. I lived in Beggar’s Bush over 25 years ago and used frequent Slattery’s on a regular basis. I loved sitting in the bar, either on my day off or on an early Saturday afternoon; looking out the window up the road, watching the world go by or chatting to the ‘auld fellas. It was usually raining (very Frank McCourt-esque!) and I’d sit there, ruminating about life in general. It was always good fun on match days with a raucous but fun atmosphere, particularly if the rugby was on. I remember one time, some kilted Scottish fans decided to start blasting on the bagpipes. Those things are loud. But that’s rugby for you, the fans always get on and that day, the craic was ninety! Now - and I totally understand why, the outdoor area blocks that view - it is an asset though , for the smokers. Sat at the bar, the fonts are way too bright and dominate what you can or cannot see. The smell of drains is a bit omni-present. But, I still have a lot of grá for the place; the pint is decent, and I will come back - if nothing, for the memories.

Gran pub, gran pinta de Guinness y ambiente agradable. Fuimos allí después de una encantadora comida al otro lado de la carretera en la Vaca. Vale la pena visitarlo.

The Balgriffin Inn

23/05/2025: Great food, amazing service. Great local ♄♄♄
19/05/2025: As an American with Irish roots, I have a small amount of anxiety going into an Irish pub in Ireland. Well. You should not feel that way. The patrons just wanted to help us have the best vacation. Dean and Mark behind the bar are exquisite at their bar skills. Have them make your drinks! My irish papa would have loved the mashed potatoes with mushrooms and gravy! Perfection! It's so good it could feed the world and cause world peace! Go! Don't walk run!

Old Music Shop

28/05/2025: I went here today for high tea with my sister we absolutely loved it. Everything from the food to the tea to the service was excellent. We quit enjoyed it and meet the owner of the hotel Finn. We will absolutely be back and will also stay at the castle hotel as it looks very interesting and has old antique vibes.
20/04/2025: The Old Music Shop Restaurant in Dublin derives its name from its location in the former premises of Walton’s Music Shop, a renowned establishment that operated there for over 80 years. Founded in 1924 by Martin Walton—a musician who participated in the 1916 Easter Rising and later served as a bodyguard to Michael Collins—Walton’s became a cornerstone of Irish musical culture. It was home to Ireland’s first music school, the Dublin College of Music, and is remembered for its motto: “If you’re going to sing a song, sing an Irish song” . ïżŒ ïżŒ Coffee and cafe in the Castle hotel. Don’t be fooled the entrance is through the hotel. They have a great menu with generous portions.
