The food, especially the shrimps, mediocre and the taste together with the cocktail sauce almost indifferent and frozen.
The service is good, the people who work are polite.

I went to celebrate my birthday at the restaurant. To be quite honest, the environment and staff are very positive points. The food is also good with just the right amount of seasoning. However, the portions are extremely small and the price is absurdly high, we ordered starters, main courses and a dessert to share and nothing satisfied us, we left hungry and spent almost €300 on two people. Despite having ordered a whole lobster, 85% of it was just shell and almost no meat with a simple portion of 4 broccoli branches on the side, I wouldn't go back...

We tried to walk in last year and failed, so this year in mid March 2024 we made a reservation and were given the best seat by the window.
We had the 6 course tasting menu and we love it very much. Just one small complaint that our 6 course menu is coming with tea or coffee but when the restaurant becomes so busy when the dessert is served, our tea or coffee never shows and we forgot to ask for our tea.

The restaurant interior is really appealing BUT we were very underwhelmed with food. Good selection but my monkfish and partners Salmon were bland to say the least. Starters and deserts were likewise disappointing.
Expensive in my view. In all honesty I couldn't recommend to friends and I wouldn't be tempted back.
Had a meal in a fish restaurant in Killarney recently which was significantly less expensive and which served a three course meal that was streets ahead of the food we got in Sole.
Sole has been on my list for ages. I wanted to like it but it just didnt live up to the hype. Not even close.

This was to be our special meal on vacation and it was a disappointment. I ordered the scallops starter and salmon main. My dishes were fine, no major complaints. I could nitpick the salmon but won’t. I do wish they had proper Irish craft beers since the place seems to itself on being local.
My partner ordered fish and chips. This is where I lost all credibility for choosing restaurants. The fish was a generous portion but my partner struggled to eat it, finding it over breaded and mushy. The chips were room temp and did not seem freshly made to order. My partner was livid to pay 33€ for this when she had paid less at Matt the Thresher for the exact same meal the night before and found it to be a much higher standard.
I did find the service attendants were good at clearing and setting the table in between courses. The restaurant also asked about our meals and when a hesitation by us was noticed, and they heard my reluctant comment that it was “fine,” they took off one drink and our lemon tart dessert from the bill.
The tart was definitely good and that I can also recommend. But we just felt let down by the whole meal and the fish should have been taken off as it was a higher value. I noticed a few other recent reviews felt this place is overrated so I wonder if something has changed in the kitchen?

If only we could find such quality of welcome, service, cuisine and decor in our French restaurants, that would be so good because many restaurants are really no longer up to par for a very long time.

Disappointing. Minuscule portions for majuscule prices. Turbot was three tiny pieces not even 100gr of fish for 44€. Ordered crab claws and monkfish, both of which were over cooked. Nice place and good service but would not go back for a mediocre meal above 100€ per person

First visit to Sole and certainly not our last. Right from the start staff very attentive, choice of seating at the bar, great idea, food, drinks attention to detail excellent. Fish and chips ? I ask a restaurant to better this, unbelievable portion. Scallops to die for and wine and drinks selection including draught Guinness superb, what a great Sunday date day 😀 we will certainly be back. Well done.

Wine, starter, dessert and coffee were great. Starter scallops were just fantastic. But I don’t know what happened with the main dish? Monkfish with bacon was soggy. Potatoes had a crunch. Other friends weren’t happy with their food either. Scallops for main were soggy and overcooked in cheese and mashed potatoes. The staff were very pleasant. Visited on the 21 Mar 2024.
