Customer service at sweet basil is amazing, despite the shop seeming busy, the lady at the front was able to take the time to guide me in ordering something splendid, asking all the right questions to help me order the right thing. I ended up getting the Singaporean fried rice with chilli oil. The shop seems to be under renovation and the interior looks very attractive. Will definitely be returning to order more things soon!

singapore vermicelli a bit oily but otherwise good
Ordered for takeaway delivery. Portion size is good, food is cooked through and hot. Ordered staple foods: Chicken Fried Rice (extra chicken), Spring Rolls and Chinese Curry Sauce. It unfortunately does not taste like typical Chinese takeaway food. The spring rolls tasted mainly of potato which I do not like and the Chinese curry sauce made my dish taste more like an Indian takeaway. I enjoy Indian food but this is not what I was expecting. Delivery handled by restaurant and only 5 mins after estimate so good time. Unfortunately won't be coming again as it's not the taste I'm after.

I’ve been eating Mr Chen’s food for over 10 years, and to my surprise, he’s now the chef here at Sweet Basil Chinese — no wonder the food is this good.
Everything we ordered was packed with flavour and tasted really fresh. You can tell they’re not cutting corners. The restaurant itself looks brand new — clean, modern and nicely done up.
The new owner clearly cares about the experience. Service was honestly spot on — friendly, fast and genuinely welcoming.
If you’re after proper Chinese food that’s halal and actually tastes authentic, this place is 100% worth checking out. Definitely coming back.
Recently visited Sweet Basil in Romford and was genuinely impressed. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed.
The food was the real highlight—absolutely delicious!
Portions were generous, and everything arrived hot and fresh. You can really tell they use quality ingredients.

Just been to sweet basil this weekend and I have to say what a hidden gem. Food was excellent, arrived on time and was hot a fresh. I was really happy with the service and this is the place to go. Hidden gem in romford.
