The Blackrock in Dublin

Went here for a xmas party and it was honestly really good. Has a good vibe to the place which is nice, all the staff super friendly. We were up the top near a fire and it was amazing felt like we were at home. Decor great. The guy who was singing was really good. The food was okay, I ordered tenders and I just felt they were a bit over done but my colleagues all loved what they got. The chips were amazing and tasty. I would definitely go back.

Food was only ok. Onion rings and fish needed at least another 5 mins cooking time. And it took forever for the staff to turn on the Ireland vs Sth Africa game on the TV.

On entering the bar I was very impressed by the set up and ambience. The rugby and soccer were on, as would be expected on a Saturday afternoon. As I'm not a sports fan, I took my drink which was served quickly by a very pleasant young bartender, outside to the beer garden. After some time the heaters were switched off, given that I was the only person out there I guess it made sense. I went inside to order my second glass of white wine which was served from a bottle that had remained on the back bar since my first was poured so I needed to add ice. Sitting at the bar it was hard not to notice that the young staff were out of their depth, even though it wasn't that busy. Noticing this I looked for a senior/experienced bartender or any sign of management. There was none and it showed. The staff were all friendly and responsive but lacked experience, knowledge and organisation. I probably visited at the wrong time but it seemed like there was a complete lack of management and it showed. All in all a good spot but could be a lot better.

Ahhh just a shame there wasn't more All Blacks supporters haha! Love changing times brewery drops! Great to have a spot in Ranelagh that has personality with such a lovely lively atmosphere. Perfect spot to watch the rugby. Best pub in Ranelagh! Even timed it well, walked in and got a perfect table for viewing the screen.

The Blackrock never disappoints - amazing service and food! Conor , Barry and all the staff are just brilliant and they recognise loyalty like nowhere else! Highly recommed!
