Great little gem out the back entrance of a wonderfully chaotic second hand bookshop. The cakes were delicious and the staff helped create a friendly atmosphere. Note: it’s better to enter through the bookshop over the strange back alley route.

A truly special, tucked-away cafe with gorgeous cakes and scones and other treats baked on site. Food portions are large, hospitality is warm and generous, and it's a peaceful spot to spend an afternoon. Abundant courtyard seating (with heaters) for the warmly dressed (my first visit was in December). Highly recommended for people who want a Dublin oasis within an easy walk of Grafton/St. Stephen's/etc.
Also of note: While the cafe has been in business for a couple of decades, it changed hands this year and the new owner, Julio, was on site, very warmly welcoming, and seems to have a happy staff working for him.
UPDATE: Just noting after several more visits that my first impression has only cemented into a conviction that this is a world-class cafe and people who take the time to seek it out will leave feeling like the luckiest and best-liked customers who have ever visited.

I must say, I rarely experience something like this. I walked into a place that was packed with customers, and as soon as I managed to take a seat, someone approached me with a very warm smile. I later learned that he was the owner. He explained that, due to the holiday season, they were short staffed and that there might be a delay in service.
I looked around and noticed just one person at the bar and one in the kitchen, yet both remained calm, professional and smiling. I am not sure how long we waited for full service, but I was genuinely impressed by the quality, the approach, and the overall atmosphere.
On top of that, they offered us a slice of cake, something we did not even ask for.
It was truly a special experience before Christmas shopping.

A unique experience. A hidden gem. The tastiest and freshest food. Christina is amazing and has to be the best breakfast / lunch in Dublin. 🩷

Don't let first impressions fool you. The café is small and charming, somewhat hidden away on a slightly run-down street. It's easy to find thanks to a sign. A very lovingly decorated place with friendly staff. The style fit perfectly with Dublin. The recommended carrot cake was absolutely delicious. Definitely recommended and well worth a visit :)

Utterly wonderful. They were full but we were very happy and lucky to be offered the stools by the kitchen so we could watch everything being made - fresh cranberries, orange peel and spices being made into I assume a cranberry sauce, and dark brown sugar and vanilla being tuned into a syrup. Freshly made food, lovely people, wonderful atmosphere and great coffee.

A very underrated Dublin spot! Tucked away in the back of The Last Bookshop, you can get some delicious artisan café drinks and sandwiches. The seating inside is a bit cramped, but it’s very well decorated. Staff are lovely!

Tucked behind Dublin’s streets, this café feels like a hidden local favourite. The cakes are fresh, the tea is excellent, and the outdoor seating feels cosy during good weather. Staff are friendly and the menu isn’t overwhelming. Ideal for a slow breakfast or dessert break when you want something charming and quiet.
