The Dropping Well in Dublin

Lovely spot for some for some lunch or dinner. Make sure to book a table of you're coming on the weekend, it can get busy. Food was very nice and loved the atmosphere.

Update 7 March 2026. I'm not sure if there has been a change in management but since my first review I've eaten here 3 times and 2 of those dinners weren't great. Just got the gnocchi (tomato) and it was so bland. Very disappointed especially given the price (23e). Pornstar martini tasted premixed and couldn't taste the alcohol. Quality has dipped. It has put me off eating here again. Which is a shame because it"s a lovely setting. First time today we actually sat in and had a meal here. I got the sweet potato gnocchi and had to be one of the nicest meals I've had. My husband got the fish and chips and the batter was lovely a and light. Staff were great and setting is beautiful, can't beat it.

Great venue for food, chat and drinks. Rugby days are great.

Love the quaint vibe of this restaurant located by the Dodder. Extremely cozy and great service. I had the leek potato soup and the green avocado salad - both were amazing. I resisted the fries but I am surely gonna have them next time! Definitely recommend this spot

The Dropping Well is undergoing refurbishment and it would be kinder to the clientele to close while doing the works. Service was beyond poor, we had to wait over 10 minutes foe the table to be cleared when we were seen sitting down after other guests left. Then I had to go and ask for menus, they hadn't got their pastries delivery that morning and when we were leaving and paying by cash it took another 10 minutes to bring the change. There was no sign of any managerial presence, the noise from the refurb was not conducive to conversation. I won't be going back for a while.

It's beautiful, busy, the service is polite, and our order arrived quickly. Delicious and very reasonable prices!

Only reason I've given the 3☆ atmosphere rating is because it can get very noisy especially on days when the TVs are showing the bigger sporting events combined with a full restaurant.

Always love it there. Great service and my favourite Chowder
