We moved here as a group from another establishment because of very poor service in that establishment. The Duke staff are excellent. Very willing to serve us quickly so that we can enjoy our short visit. Unfortunately, our last visit was marred by the Duke being packed out. We moved 3 times to try and get a spot where we could hear each other. Personally, I'll be moving on to try and find a place where we can enjoy conversation with my friends.

Good pub for a pint or two. It's very spacious and the bar staff are friendly and efficient. On the Tuesday evening I went there I was told that the kitchen closed at 7pm, so had to eat elsewhere. I came back later for a couple of pints.

The cottage pie and seafood chowder were very good as well as the service and pub atmosphere. Seating was about half to three fourths capacity at 2pm on a sunny Saturday, but was just about full when we left a bit after 3pm.

Traditional stew tasty and plentiful. Burger failed, very failed: fresh vegetables but hamburger overcooked and very dry. The bun was poorly assembled, impossible to bite into without destroying it, also because the bun was thin and had gotten a little wet and therefore couldn't hold everything else. We had to "deconstruct" it. Service and environment are average, even the prices (the hamburger price is too high for the quality). I won't be returning

We ducked in to get out of the rain. Surprisingly large pub. Lots of comfortable seats which were welcomed after a long day walking. We had the lamb stew which was very good. We did not utilize the well stocked bar but it looked impressive

We always stop here when in Dublin We did not eat on this occasion but the choice of food is brilliant and delicious We had a Guinness wow one of the best we have had Looking forward to our next visit

09/11/2024: We were visiting our son who was studying abroad in Ireland. We were staying in Dun Laoghaire, and happened upon a sign for the restaurant advertising lobster thermidor. Well, we knew we had to come back for dinner, and it was the most AMAZING meal! It was a quiet Sunday night, so we were the only customers, and Daniel invited us into the kitchen to watch him cook scallops! Never had that happen before! The fresh caught scallops were the best I’ve had, and we live by the sea in California. My husband had the lobster bisque, which you can see in other reviews, it’s is made with care and is fantastic! For mains I had the lobster thermidor, my husband had the duck, and our son had the lamb shanks. All were exceptional. For dessert we had the profiteroles, the fried ice cream, and crème caramel. We were full, but still managed to finish dessert! All of this was paired with a wonderful wine Daniel recommended. The price for the meal and wine were remarkable given the high level of quality. Thank you, Daniel, for one of the most memorable meals we have ever had!
