Great experience at the Duke. It was a chilly grey winter day and the Irish stew with fresh soda bread was a real hit as was the beef and Guinness pie and the daily special cottage pie.

We went to Duke and only had drinks. But I really enjoyed it there. The place itself, as well as the staff, were very attentive and friendly. The food looked delicious from what we saw. Since we went on New Year's Eve, I was worried we wouldn't get a table, but the staff made sure we did.

The Duke has been a firm favourite since my bookselling days and I'm thrilled to see it thriving in the mew century. Congratulations to the Gilligans for maintaining this great 'watering hole' and for the great welcome every customer receives here, still top of my list!

The Pig and Heifer

27/12/2025: The most delicious sandwiches in Dublin! Especially the prosciutto ones.
21/12/2025: This is a great deli! Definitely a local favorite judging from the line out the door. A wide range of meats and cheeses with an assortment of condiments. Very reasonable prices. Even at what seemed the height of the lunch rush, I got my sandwich in about 15 minutes. Mostly a take away spot, though there are four tables with 2 chairs each.
