The Exchequer in Dublin

For a pp of 30€ this place is not value for money. We got the plato de jamón ibérico y manchego and we received a tiny plate with dried up jamón and 3 tiny sliced pieces of cheese. The plate costs 18 euro and mentions it comes with crackers, so it came with literally 3 crackers. We also got the large portion of patatas bravas, only to receive a tiny bowl of chips-that I doubt were hand cut. That being said the atmosphere is lovely with lights and pleasant decoration and the waiters are all kind and helpful. The wine was decent, but still more pricey than in other wine bars in the area. I am sorry to give 3 stars but I honestly hope they increase the size of portions and quality of the food to be able to justify those prices.

Lovely restaurant and venue. DJ’d upstairs for a private event. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Highly recommend!!

Great Tapas to eat over a glass of wine or two

Food was average, staff lovely, atmosphere nice

Lovely ambience, great service and plenty of delicious food and drink to be had. We were very well looked after throughout our meal - when our patatas bravas didn’t arrive they promptly brought them to us on the house. The food was great, for the most part. I particularly enjoyed the braised beef, piquillo peppers and ham/cheese croquettes. The prawns were a real letdown, however: they tasted completely unseasoned and I couldn’t eat more than one. The portions were also very small (even for a tapas menu) relative to their price and the number of total menu items. We severely underordered our first round of food. Another minor peeve would be that we were asked if we wanted the bill without having given any indication that we wanted to leave - and long before the place had started winding down, despite the fact that there were no more bookings to come, hence we weren’t keeping anyone waiting. This was out of keeping with the generally warm and accommodating service up until that point. All in all, it was a nice meal.

Food was not nice tbh, the prawns tasted like an ashtray and the service was awful it was a busy night but they forgot two of our dishes and we waited about 40 minutes for them to arrive between the first plates we got... had to order at the bar ourselves as the server kept forgetting about us.

I celebrated my birthday party here. Peter was excellent. The room was perfect for the occasion. The food impeccable. The staff were friendly and the chef was great. Would definitely recommend

Love that I finally got to hit The Exchequer Wine Bar on this Dublin trip! Highly recommend!

A party of six and we all felt that the food was very average and disappointing. There were problems with a dish that didn’t arrive and despite several efforts, it was not resolved on the bill. The meal wasn’t over priced but one got the impression that the staff were swamped. 12.5% service charge was not justified. Good atmosphere.

Hidden gem! Wonderful roast on offer for great value, highly recommended!!!
