The Hive in Monaghan

Super homemade beetroot burger. So delicious. Made from scratch. Very wholesome. Will be back for that alone. We came at the tail end of lunch so not everything was available. Still I was impressed with the commitment to vegetarian options in particular. Lovely 😻

Information: Really lovely Cafe that was very busy which is a good sign . Lots of breakfast options. What i had: I had avocado smash with pickled onion. More pickled onion would have been great. Very tasty. Options for lunch are sandwich based. Price: Pricewise its pretty good. 12.95 for avocado smash and tea. Rating: 4/5

I was really looking forward to try this place as the photos were looking great and of course it did not dissapoint, the food was great and I really enjoyed it. The only issue I have is with staff who doesn't know what they sell. I explicitly asked before ordering of the tea/coffee is included in the price of the full breakfast, to which the young girl said yes it is. Surprise surprise when I went to till to pay, an older lady (owner?) charged extra for tea and also coffee. When I told her we asked about it, she asked 'who told you this?'.. I knew where this is going, so I said never mind and paid also extra for the drinks they were apparently not included in 11.50€ full breakfast (per person) option. I know it's only 2.50€ extra, but they could have taken ownership of the problem and not charge it. Be careful when they tell you something is included in the price, as when the time to pay comes, you might get charged extra.

Lovely place for lunch, great for kids, food 10/10, service excellent. Really enjoyed our lunch here. Had curried chicken heated up with 5 salads and tea, really fresh, filling and enjoyable.

Great cafe. Food is very good for breakfast, brunch and lunch and coffee is good. Great scones.

This might just be the best avocado & poached eggs in the country 👀 Don’t take our word for it… Delish 👏👏
