The Jar in Dublin

Had my 40th birthday there on the bank holiday Sunday on their first floor terrace... the roof retracted and we were lucky enough to have great weather. Absolutely smashing evening, bartenders were great and food was good and reasonably priced. Served late and the DJ was good... absolutely perfect spot for a birthday celebration!

Atmosphere is nice and romantic, which was the reason we decided to enter. But that's kinda about it. We only had a pint of Guinness which wasn't the best. When we asked for the bill, they brought us the one of the nearby table, and to flag them down to get their attention again to fix it, took another 10 minutes. Live music, backgroundish and too lively.

Absolutely loved this place. Their cocktail and pizza deal is phenomenal, no better deal going in Dublin. The food was great and drinks unique and tasty. Staff were lovely and attentive. If I had to think of any faults it would just be that the music was a bit too loud but that’s just my preference. Overall great experience, I’ll definitely be back :)

The Jar has yet to decide if it has a proper downstairs smoking area or not. They have a massive outdoor smoking area with heaters, but now you can't smoke there. Now you have to be crammed in a tiny area if you want to smoke. Also the upstairs bar area isn't open sometimes. The inconsistency of this place is a big turn off which is unfortunate because it used to be a great bar.

The 2 pizzas and 2 cocktail for €30 is unreal! Pizzas savage and amaretto sours are TOP, match days getting a pizza and 2 beers for €15 is such a good deal! Highly recommend!

What an amazing night we had for my wife's 40th. From the moment I emailed to book Thelma, was great to deal with and so helpful. When we arrived, we were put upstairs and was well maintained. Cormac was working the bar and was a pure pleasure to deal with. The food platter was great, and the pizzas were unreal. Thank you for a great night. Definitely be back

Great place. Service was a little slow and we had trouble getting the attention of servers but we got our orders in eventually. Great pizzas and cocktails.
