We had arrived in Dublin a few hours earlier (airport) and driven to our Air BnB in Clondalkin, where our host suggested this pub for our dinner. We had been travelling all day and needed nourishment. We both had the chicken curry with half and half rice and chips and a cold pint of Guinness—just what the doctor ordered for our weary bodies and empty stomachs. The food and drink were outstanding, and the service was friendly and fast. The location has ample parking and plenty of seating inside and outside and is comfortable and welcoming. It was a great start to our stay in and around Dublin.

Food arrived in intervals. Some of the group eating dessert while others still waiting for main course.

I had left my phone in the car in the morning I went into The Laurels Clondalkin after four staff in Quinlans Pub, The Black Lion, refused to let me ring one of their regular customers for years and years (my brother-in-law and a friend of the Late Ollie Quinlan) Even the manager, a small auld fella with grey hair & spectacles, refused to let me make a call on his mobile phone He said "I don't let anyone make a phone call on my phone" I don't know what he was afraid of, with his stupid narrow-minded attitude Maybe he thinks that Aliens from the Moon or somewhere exist That pub has gone downhill to the Dogs in recent years I was often in there in years gone by especially in Ollie's time Rest in Peace It was the best pub in the area then but now!! God Help us!! It's truly gone to the Dogs!!! Anyway to cut a long story short, I was upset and crossed the road to The Laurels and immediately was given his phone by Aaron to make my call All of the staff there are so pleasant, friendly and helpful - a million miles from the four staff in The Black Lion - Quinlans, and only across the road They (the four in Quinlans) could take lessons from Laurels Staff, but I guess it's a bit late for the small, auld, bespectacled, grey-haired so called manager "You can't teach an old dog etc........." Top marks to The Laurels If you're a customer of Quinlans, The Black Lion, I would seriously consider switching allegiance to The Laurels I certainly will never set foot again in that behind-the-times, stupid-minded attitude, establishment They won't last long with those day staff certainly, four men behind the counter there, and only two customers outside it I wouldn't mind but I was meeting friends and had planned to have lunch in Quinlans but that ship has long sailed now WELL DONE TO AARON ANDTHE STAFF AT THE LAURELS - COFFEE WAS LOVELY TOO, AND SO WAS LUNCH THE FOLLOWING DAY THAT WAS THURSDAY 22 AUGUST 2024 ABOUT 2.20PM

Eddie Rocket's

31/10/2024: We were thinking of going to eat a hamburger somewhere after taking photos at La Aguja, the first thing we saw was that the place had power outlets on the tables and that made us decide, but we were crazy with the quality of the food and the service, which I recommend 100%
30/10/2024: Nothing special..and too expensive

Easons Bookstore Cafe

04/10/2024: Love this shop, love the cafe upstairs. However, the quality has slid a bit over the years, but for God's sake, surely you can clean the windows. A beautiful view of the Easons clock and O Connell Street is ruined by filthy, grime embedded windows. Poor management, I would imagine
26/08/2024: This iconic bookstore on O Connell Street has been a local feature for over 130 years, and a feature in my life since I can remember. It offers books, its mainstay, but also newspapers, local and foreign, numerous magazines and comics. Aside from that you can buy gifts, cards, and wrapping paper. If you want art or office supplies you are covered here too. Great store.
