The Oven Clonee in Clonee village

This evening we had dinner together with my wife and another couple, upstairs in their lovely restaurant with a warm atmosphere, appropriate music and a welcome setup. The menu is a great combination of traditional Romanian dishes and local Irish food, so everyone can find something they enjoy.Even though it was extremely busy the staff handled everything excellently. The service was attentive, friendly , and very efficient, despite the large crowd . The food, the drinks, and the overall ambiance left us with great impression. Congratulations to the entire team at The Oven Clonee! They truly deserve all the stars . We will definitely be back!

We saw this place advertised by “Conor Ryan” on instagram and it was described to be absolutely delicious so we thought we’d make the journey from swords. We ordered the infamous “Kebab Calzone”meal and Pepperoni pizza meal with a side of spicy fries. The kebab Calzone is a 5/10 at best. I had the filling as mixed (donor + chicken) which didn’t taste fresh and more like frozen. Very little salad and It lacked that spicy Kebab sauce flavour and just seemed to be swimming in a mild mayo like sauce. The dough of the calzone was nice and cooked well. The pepperoni pizza was quite soggy in the centre. The outside crust was cooked well with a nice layer of char bubbles. The sauce could be thicker though and the pepperoni was nicely crisped. Overall I would give it a 7/10. The “spicy fries” were just chips smothered in paprika. They look nice but trust me they are just paprika with a side of fries. I would give these a 2/10 at best. In my opinion The Oven should put their thinking caps on and blend up a new tasty spice with a more peri peri salt flavour to it and a garnish of diced chillies would make the dish so much more appealing. Also served in a box which after 5 minutes they become soggy from moisture, serving in a bag for takeout would be a much better option. Our wait time was around 15/20mins from order to Eat. I would also suggest that the owner not put the customer on the spot by approaching them during their meal and asking for feedback. After spending roughly €40/€50 on mediocre food and drinks the last thing we need is someone asking us questions about what we’re eating. I might return if their menu changes or if their Pizza becomes more crisp or cooked.
