Great view, probably the best seats in Dún Laoghaire - looking right over the harbour to Howth, Dublin Bay & Scotsmans Bay. Outdoor seating can be ruined by smokers, but overall the views are worth it.

I went a few times for breakfast, delicious and large portions. The staff are very kind and helpful. The place is big and clean.

I actually find it a Very luxurious place for honest rural English or Irish prices. Just a great quaity/price ratio in a perfect luxurious popular setting! Obviously this place gets very busy but lovely quiet times as well.
Amazing prices and good beers and food but bar staff fail miserable on customer service.

Cheap place but Sundays they are always understaffed and it’s a disgrace. Having the best view in Dublin outside and making people queue …

Every should be 3 stars but the price gives everything a bonus point. Don't expect luxury but you will have a really nice affordable time here. If their ales were colder it would be really nice. Your pints will be warm, your food will sometimes be sent to the wrong table but for the price they are offering you can't complain. Catch this place on a sunny day and sit outside and you might fool yourself into thinking this is a fancy spot. I love this particular spoons even with lots faults (please make the ales colder)

Nestled along Hanover Quay, The South Strand offers the familiar Wetherspoon formula with a few local quirks. It’s a budget-friendly spot that draws in a mix of regulars, tourists, and curious passersby looking for a pint that won’t break the bank.
The interior is spacious and modern, with nods to the area’s industrial past through vintage photos and clean, minimalist decor. Seating is varied and plentiful, making it a decent choice whether you're flying solo with a book or catching up with friends.
Food-wise, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. Some visitors rave about the value-for-money breakfast deals and the consistently cheap drinks. Others, however, have had less-than-stellar experiences—ranging from underwhelming pasta dishes to questionable hygiene and service lapses. It seems the quality can vary depending on the day and the staff on shift.
That said, the location is a definite plus. With views of the docklands and a short walk from the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, it’s a convenient pit stop before or after a show. If you go in with modest expectations and a craving for affordability, you might just leave satisfied.
Always lively, service is good when it's not too busy, good beers and best of all: the price of pints is the best in Dublin.
