Food was great, quick and polite service

Its about time mountmellick had an evening restaurant and all i can say is wow , the food is delicious , the portions are just right , staff and front of house are so welcoming and attentive , the beef featherblade is my go to and its melt in the mouth , the potatoe skins as a starter are my favorite and not to mention the deserts , the brownie is gorgeous 🙂 i highly reccomend a visit if passing by or you around the area you wont be dissapointed 👌🏻

Absolutely gorgeous food, with great hospitality. The best meal out we have had in years. Small but quality menu, melt in your mouth pork bites and featherblade of beef, amazing desserts and delicious chicken wings. Everything was 10 out of 10. Would 100% recommend.

We visited The Old Canal Restaurant, Mountmellick on its second day open and were really impressed. The transformation of the old pub is fantastic—beautifully decorated, warm and welcoming, with a lovely atmosphere. It quickly filled with couples, families and groups, creating a great buzz without feeling too busy. The service was excellent from start to finish. The young waitress who looked after us was friendly and attentive, and the owner also stopped by our table to make sure everything was okay, which was a lovely touch. We shared the potato skins to start, and the homemade Mornay sauce was a real standout. I had the Moroccan Chickpea Tagine, which was full of flavour, while my husband really enjoyed his burger. The food arrived quickly, and everything was well presented. The quality of the tableware, glassware and overall attention to detail didn't go unnoticed. My only small suggestion would be to have the waiting staff mention the daily specials when taking orders. I only spotted the specials board halfway through our starter and would definitely have ordered the goat's cheese starter if I'd seen it sooner. A fantastic addition to Mountmellick. Great food, friendly service and a lovely dining experience. We'll definitely be back!

Had an amazing meal in the old canal bar the other night, the pork belly bites are savage and that burgers tasty as, will definitely be back, service was top notch and the place is lovely
