Food was very nice and staff where excellent.
Kids size portions where very big which was great.
Understandable that a roast dinner is not avaliable weekdays as may not be the busiest village midweek. Would recommend.
We stumbled on Cavanagh pub/bar during our camping trip and were blown away. The owner was lovely, and our young server was spot-on — friendly and efficient.
The outdoor seating was covered and ideal for families — our chihuahua could run and sniff around the open yard too.
Now the food: Ordered bruschetta for starter. It looked a bit chaotic (feta, onions, tomato piled high), but one bite in? MAGIC. PHENOMENAL. Unexpectedly fresh, generous, and totally addictive. I demolished my portion way too fast and sadly couldn’t appreciate the fish properly which follwed our starter.
But that fish? You can see how crispy and golden the outside is, and the inside? Creamy, flaky, juicy perfection. We had it for take away though and I reheated it at the campsite — it still tasted amazing
Great vibes, generous food, and pet/kid-friendly. Highly recommend.
Awesome pub! Jeanette, the bar tender is an absolute gem! My brothers and I went here for a pint after a long day of hiking and had a great time, would definitely be my go to spot in round wood on my next visit.
Went for a day out with 4 friends in the wicklow mountains, impromptu day out, we popped in quite late to see if they were still serving food.
The restaurant was still open. The wait staff were brilliant and accommodating.
The food was amazing, I had the steak, with potatoes and peppercorn sauce, steak cooked to perfection, potatoes were delicious, honestly this was the best food, I'd had in 5 days in Dublin and surrounding areas.
Highly recommend going to this place.
04/12/2025: I found this place thanks to a friend’s recommendation. I’m not necessarily a big fan of pizza, but she said, “Well, this is probably the best pizza in Wicklow.”
How wrong she was…
It’s without a doubt the best pizza in Ireland (probably — since it’s not an exact science 😅).
An absolute hidden gem, open only for a few hours per day and only a few days a week.
If you’re driving through from the overpriced tourist traps like Glendalough, pop in here for a perfectly made pizza and to support a great small local business.
5 stars for sure *****
09/11/2025: Pizza for takeaway. It was ready on time. Delicious proper thin based pizza.
