27/09/2025: I gave this place a 5 star review a few years ago but it's gone rapidly downhill recently. The last 3 times I've ordered takeaway from here it's been very very late. I usually collect it from the restaurant and there's always 4 or 5 others impatiently waiting for late orders too. Last night I placed an order on my way home from work. I allowed extra time because of my experience with lateness the last couple of times. My order was accepted at 17.52 and pick up time was in 35 mins. I knew I wouldn't get there until about 18.45 so thought it'd definitely be ready to go by then. I was wrong. I arrived and waited until 19.00 for my order. Another woman who was beside me said she'd been there 20 mins waiting and had people waiting in the car for her. It's really not fair to be so late. Especially when there's no communication with customers about it. If they called and let you know they were running late it mightn't be so bad but they never do. So you just arrive at the time it says and end up waiting anything between 10 and 40 mins longer. It's really bad service. And the food itself has definitely gotten worse. The dalh I used to always love is now very bland and tasteless. The rice is different and not as nice and all of the sauces seem oilier. It's just not what it used to be. I really don't know what happened to the place. It's sad. But I can't recommend it anymore and I probably won't go back.

07/10/2025: My flight out of Dublin got turned around due to a maintenance issue and we were put up in a hotel in Dunboyne late in the evening - the steakhouse had noticed several people in this situation and stayed open late to make sure everyone could get a hot meal. On top of that the steak, soup, wine, and sides were fantastic! Cooked a great medium rare and appropriately seasoned - the owner really helped turn a cruddy day into a positive one!
30/09/2025: I'm currently staying at the Dunboyne Castle Hotel for several weeks, and the steakhouse is just a short walk away, so I tried it tonight and I must say I wasn't disappointed. The service was friendly. The interior is fine; I ordered a 16oz T-bone steak, and it was cooked just right. The sides are okay. I would have liked to swap the peppercorn sauce for something else, but that's just how it is. All in all, I'm really very satisfied and will be visiting this restaurant again soon.

09/08/2025: The Crusty Corner. Small, unassuming… and yet, within seconds of walking in, I was dangerously close to ordering a breakfast roll. In the end, I went for something a bit more… engineered. A roll stacked with thick slices of hot breaded chicken, creamy egg mayo, and jalapeños with enough heat to keep things interesting. My girlfriend chose chicken mayo with soft, herby stuffing — essentially Sunday lunch you can eat with one hand.
Mine was magnificent. The breaded chicken had a crunch that could be heard three tables away, with the meat inside still hot and juicy. The jalapeños provided just the right amount of aggression, calmed down perfectly by the egg mayo. Hers was cool, savoury, and comfort in bread form. She eats like a mouse, so naturally I finished it for her.
And then… dessert. Because I’m still a fat kid at heart, I needed cake — carrot cake. Fresh, soft, and glorious. A touch too sweet, thanks to sugar hiding at the bottom, but I didn’t care. The roll-and-water deal was a bargain, and I left with jars of strawberry jam and thick-cut marmalade for my parents.
No regrets, no shame, and yes — I needed a bag to carry my spoils.
09/08/2025: Ordered a cake for a family occasion. It was fabulous. Everyone loved it.

06/10/2025: Was easy enough to get a table last minute in a Saturday night. The staff were lovely, really friendly. Portion sizes are decent for the pasta. We ordered starter sized portions for our mains and they were very big portions, more than enough for a main! Really good selection on the menu too. We’ll definitely be back.

03/10/2025: We ordered milkshakes that were runny and watery when a milkshake is supposed to be think not runny. We then told them it was to runny we were ignored. We called them after my sister drinking one and her stomach being in bits from it the rest of us didn’t drink it and the manager hung up the phone on us. Horrible customer service.
14/09/2025: Ordered for collection from this place. Reached home to find the cajun bites were burnt and chicken dippers were partially burnt as well. Asked for a dip and guy said they have a dip with my order and obviously found nothing in it. I called to complain and they did nothing. Think twice before you order from this place.

Ordered on Just Eat and order gets accepted, only for the
restaurant to ring me demanding an extra €5 for Delivery as we are outside of their usual 'delivery radius'. Of course, I refuse this as the order was originally accepted and ask them, if they wont deliver to simply refund the order.
The restaurant worker then decides to develop a horrible attitude on the phone, and after being passed around to 3 different members of staff they eventually refuse refund, telling me to contact Just Eat.
Just Eat will not provide a refund when it is processed on the user side after an order it has been accepted - and i have a feeling the staff knew this, as one of them said, "You need to take their money not mine."
Why did this restaurant originally accept this order, if they knew it was outside their usual delivery radius?
Do they just hope people cave in and pay the extra fee?
UPDATE ON THIS >>>>>>>>>>> MORNING AFTER
So apparently... Just Eat was contacted by the restaurant, and they have confirmed they 'attempted to deliver this order' and 'attempted contact via phone' - neither of which happened.
Therefore Just Eat will not process a refund.
Why would the restaurant attempt delivery after being told to cancel? After all, they originally said this was outside of their delivery radius. They were under the impression I was in the midst of getting a refund from Just Eat? Were they going to deliver the food for free?
Of course they weren't...
This is a scam.
I'm sure I'm not the first and wont be the last.

03/10/2025: I just want to say a huge thank you to Carmen and her staff in the Ivy Restaurant in Dunboyne castle for our lovely Retirement lunch today.
We were a large group of 24 people and the staff were so attentive to us and catered for all our needs.
The lovely gesture of the gorgeous desert you gave to our Retiree was so thoughtful.
We appreciated everything and really enjoyed the afternoon

21/07/2025: The service is amazing the place is unreal, but the food is not nice, not tasty small portion, I ordered the salmon black risotto was horrible, no tasty the risotto was hard, my partner ordered pasta with the same problem! The hotel is amazing spa aswell, nothing to complain about it, only the restaurant unfortunately!

21/07/2025: We were staying at the nearby hotel. This was relatively close and an easy walk. We had an enjoyable meal and the service was great.
21/07/2025: Ordered Fish and Chips last Saturday night 19th. Have had this dish on numerous occasions in Slevins. When it arrived the fish was the colour of a brown leather shoe and the batter was of the same consistency! All three people at the table agreed it was inedible so I sent it back. 15/20 minutes later still waiting.
The Manager Michelle told me the Chef thought the batter was a funny colour so was making another one! Finally arrived and it was worse. Not helped by the skin showing through the burnt batter at the back!
The Manager here needs not to adopt such a defensive and rude attitude. I was told.......she tasted the fish and it was fine, nobody else complained and her final insulting parting shot....we would be happy to welcome you again but suggest you don't order the Fish and Chips! Now the staff here are normally extremely pleasant and the food very good. All my friends go there so we were very surprised to be treated in this manner. My companions food was great. The servers were lovely. Will go again but Slevins you need to perhaps arrange further training here. Customers matter and good customer service is essential for any business.
