Castle Oaks House Hotel, located along the banks of the River Shannon near Limerick, is a charming country estate that blends old-world elegance with modern comfort. The property is set amid beautifully landscaped gardens, creating a peaceful and scenic atmosphere perfect for relaxation or romantic getaways. The main building retains its period character, with antique furnishings, high ceilings, and plenty of cozy corners to sit and unwind.
Rooms are comfortable and spacious, some offering river or garden views. While the décor leans traditional, the amenities are well-maintained, and the beds are comfortable. The on-site restaurant serves hearty Irish breakfasts and well-prepared evening meals that highlight local ingredients, while the bar is a great spot for a quiet pint or afternoon tea.

Having visited a few hotels over the years this hotel must rank as our number one establishment for friendliness and attention to detail. From the moment we arrived our receptionist Stephanie greeted us warmly and made us feel at home, engaging us in delightful banter, regaling us about the local area and the facilities available in the hotel. Her beautiful personality and genial demeanor set the tone for a most pleasurable weekend at the cradle of the Shannon.
The following morning our breakfast host Maggie treated us like royalty, serving up a sumptuous breakfast fit for kings.
That evening we dined there for supper. Josephine was the evening host who greeted us with a cordial smile and a menu dripping with mouth watering mains and tempting desserts. When she announced bacon and cabbage was the days special, I felt I had zoned out, i was on a cloud destined for heaven.
Afterwards we adjourned to our rooms, ascended the breathtaking stairway and strode the corridors paved with plush carpets and olde worlde charm. One of our best, authentic experiences ever. Big shout out to Stephanie, Maggie and Josephine, a trio of employees any hotel would be very proud of indeed.
Thank you Castle Oaks House Hotel.

Well where do I begin....My wife and I booked a couple of nights at the Castle Oaks House Hotel.
We arrived at 3.30pm on Tuesday last and proceeded to check in. We were met with a genuine smile and a lovely welcome from Anna who was on reception at the time.
All the details about meals the room breakfast, leisure centre and the grounds were very clear and all the time with a smile. Straight away we felt very much at home.
We had booked a suite on the first floor. Everything about the room was wonderful. It was full of old world charm the way it should be.
Later on we went to the bar for some food and drinks. The menu was a delight to see. Traditional professionally cooked delights. I had the most wonderfully cooked roast beef yorkshire pudding with great veg and potatoes.
My wife had fish and chips which she really enjoyed. During the whole meal we were looked after very well and felt very special. (If you do stay here ask for the salted caramel roulade it's absolutely amazing).
On our first morning we went for breakfast. Once again we were met by a lovely lady called Maggie. She was very dedicated friendly and we felt like we were in a home from home. Nothing was to much trouble. Hot coffee straight away and a wonderful choice of cereals fruit pastries and a toasting machine in the corner. A lovely idea. We ordered our hot breakfast and boy were we in for a special treat. Eggs, bacon, sausages, beans, little fried diced potatoes, mushrooms and black / white pudding.
A feast fit for a king !!!. The chef on both mornings was Cathy and she really knows her stuff. The food was beautifully presented and dry from grease. That was one of the things I really noticed. A lady who takes pride in what she does.
Later on that day when we returned to the hotel my wife went upstairs it was about 3.30pm and I was little peckish. I went into the bar and I was met by another very friendly face. I was looking to get a coffee and maybe a few biscuits. Well Josephine ( I asked her name) had a better offer and brought me a warm scone cream butter and Jam. I was so delighted. I sat out near the reception listening to some relaxing music and just let the world go by. Josephine asked me a few times if there was anything else I would like. Josephine is a
lovely comical lady and made me feel special.
I totally forgot the time as I was zoned out. My wife came down about 8.15pm and reminded me that we must have some dinner.
We went into the bar where Josephine showed us to our table, menus ready and candle lit. With the Georgian surrounding a warm room and a great host we felt special very special.
Josephine is a great sales woman too, the way she decribed the specials I didn't want to ready the menu. Once again we had the perfect meal with the perfect host making sure we were OK for everything.
Earlier in the evening I was
asking if the hotel hosts many weddings?
At the end of our meal, Josephine remembered my question and asked my wife and I if we would like to see the ballroom.
Well what a fabulous venue. Coloured lights, curtains that lit up stained glass windows that also lit up. It was a feast for the eyes. There are very large letters that also light up spelling LOVE.
May I conclude by saying that it was love and genuine kindness we felt during out stay.
It's more than a hotel it's a home.
Thank you all so much for making two fifty somethings feel great.
We can't wait to return again.
Go raibh mile maith agat.

We stayed at Castle Oaks House Hotel for 5 days and 4 nights, and it was such a wonderful experience! We stayed in one of the lodge houses-spacious parking, two clean and comfortable bedrooms, and a peaceful environment.
We loved walking along the River Shannon in the cool November air. Breakfast was tasty with good menu choices, and the coffee was just perfect!
The staff were super friendly, special thanks to Dalma, Megan, and Sherna for their warm hospitality and great stories about Ireland. It was our first visit to Limerick, and they made it unforgettable.
Highly recommended for families visiting Limerick! We’d love to come back again. 💚
