This is a review of 2 separate visits, 6 years apart. In 2020, Alfie's served creme brulee. It is still the absolute best I ever had. It somehow had like a 1 inch sugar crust but the rest of the custard was still creamy and smooth and cool. As for the rest, food is above average, drinks are good and well priced, and the vibe is very chill. Even 6 years apart, aside from no more creme brulee, Alfie's is still a hit with my wife and myself.

We came to dinner the fajitas were good, but the waiters could be more attentive. We had to ask for napkins two or three times.

A gem of sanity amongst the manic pubs and bars. Great chilled vibe, excellent food, cocktails and does not turn away people with teenagers, so the whole family can grab a good bite and a pint or cocktail.

My go-to cocktail bar. Great menu, great choices. Bar is on the smaller side, but despite that, it works well. Have recommended to many friends. Nothing bad to say. Bouncer guy at the door is lovely and friendly, every-time.

Fun and lovely atmosphere, a hint of a happy queer vibe, tasty food, beautiful presentation, and very reasonable prices. Brandon, our handsome 🤪 server, was quick, efficient, warm, and very friendly. Highly recommended!

Amazing place. Cannot fault anything about here. So nice to pay less thsn 20 -25 euro for a meal and 10 euro for a drink like everywhere else in the centre. Staff were so nice and chatty for a change compared to other bars and restaurants we have been in!!! Food was excellent every dish we got from picks menu was so lovely and well prepared, drinks for €6 as well and lovely decor etc and service. Definitely be back and would recommend for anyone in Dublin to go to!!

Tolka House

16/05/2026: Lucy and kitty made the first experience amazing experts in whiskey would highly Recommend here without a doubt
07/05/2026: We popped in for dinner and a pint. The decor, vibe, ambiance, and feel do not match the food or service. I ordered the "pie of the day" (chicken and bacon with a side of mashed potatoes and roasted veg) and my husband the burger. At €20 a plate I was expecting something other than what appeared to be boiled and thickly cut chicken breast with a few bit of bacon in an overly salted cream sauce along with run of the mill mashed potatoes with small chunks of veg that were pan fried. It almost smacked of what you could get as a pre-made meal at Tesco. The burger was equally disappointing. Dry, overcooked (was never asked how it should be prepared), and the toppings were underwhelming. The chips that came with the burger were OK, but unremarkable and should have been cooked for at least another minute or two to crisp up the outside. When I say the vibe didn't match the service, it boils down, quite a bit, to the service. The bartender would frequently mess with his hair showing his midriff. If you're going to present your establishment as a "cut above", I would expect a bit of decorum with proper attire. Our server (I didn't catch her name) had the personality of a rock and was cold (never mean, but definitely has the feeling she didn't really want to be there). Maybe it's because it's the "low season" being early May, but come on! For €52 for 2 meals and 2 pints, surely you can do better. Also, what is up with the weird thumping noise that was vibrating the ceiling lights? Super annoying.
