Difficult to rate accurately. We only stayed one night. However, there's a clear need for renovation. On the way through the dark hallway to our first room, I remarked to my wife that it looked more like a two-star hotel. And that's exactly how the room felt. After an upgrade, we got a room with a sea view in a renovated section. Breakfast was okay. I'd advise against booking the brightly colored rooms. It was still okay for one night, but lacked a welcoming atmosphere.

Stayed for 4 nights last week and we were very happy. The manager on the day we arrived was amazing, she went out of her way to be welcoming, friendly and gave fantastic recommendations on places to visit and see. So too Sandra on reception. Our room was very comfortable and the morning staff cleaning and re stocking rooms were great and very friendly with a big hello and good morning. Breakfast was good with a good selection of food. Morning breakfast staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. The location is excellent.

We had food here last Monday 29th December in the front bar/lounge across the road from the bay. Absolutely superb. Food was excellent, great value for money and service was extremely fast for our large group of 17 diners. We had not booked in advance, and our arrival of such a large group was handled efficiently, professionally and we were made to feel most welcome. A worthy alternative to The Bridge Bar, where we would normally dine over Christmas while at home in Fermanagh/Donegal visiting relatives. Well done!

24/07/2026: We always go to Maddens at least once every summer when we are up in Sligo on holidays. It’s some we enjoy going as a family. We were seated in the heated terrace out side at the front of the bar which was pleasant. Looking trough the menu the starter were interesting as always, we got the beef croquettes, pork belly and chicken thigh all of which were nice. We struggled to pick something from the main menu as they were not that inspiring. I got the burger and chips as did my son and my wife got the chicken parmigiana. Burger was nice, but thought was small for 23€ and the portion of chips that came with it was was small. Nice place but it’s getting a bit expensive for a casual night out. Service was good.

The Waterfront Bar & Grill + Carvery

07/07/2025: Came here recently for dinner based on word of mouth recommendations. Staff were friendly, and the food and drink tasted good. Choice was a little limited for non-meat eaters though.
20/06/2025: Had a great evening here with friends. Dinner, desert and drinks.. staff were very friendly and food was delicious
