Not only is the food fresh, the staff very pleasant, and the atmosphere wonderful, but you can also buy their Guiness bread by the loaf for take away! (Preordered needed). The big super salad has everything you’d want in it too! I spent two weeks at Oideas Gael and the meals, desserts and coffee did not disappoint. Did I mention the bread?? ❤️

On entry, greeted to be seated I addressed the server in Irish but was responded to in English only disappointingly. Food was lovely. Nice decor too and a popular place. Servers were all lovely (though again was disappointed by the lack of Irish - not even any Irish on the menu which was a shame. It’s beside a language school and in a Gaeltacht town… maybe it was an off day but I felt so disheartened). I’d go back but would really hope the owners would read this and support the language more

I come here often. I am yet to be disappointed by the food. :-). I run a local BnB and a guest told me he had the best fish and chips EVER at An Chisten . I agree

Galánta ar fad! Doing a course in Oideas Gael and the having lunch here for the weekend. Incredible homemade comfort food perfect for keeping fuelled on a breezy spring day. The excellent service is typical of the friendly Donegal way. A really homey environment with elements of a typical country kitchen. Fun music as well. Ar fheabhas ar fad 💕

07/06/2025: Absolutely Love This Place! I can’t recommend John Eoinín’s in Glencolmcille, Co. Donegal enough. It’s one of those gems you’re always glad you found. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive — nothing is too much trouble There was a trad session on in the wee bar The food? Absolutely second to none. I had the seafood platter salad, and it was simply outstanding — so fresh, full of flavour, and presented beautifully. You can really taste the quality and care that goes into everything they serve. A must-visit if you’re in the area. Can’t wait to go back.
