An Stad in Rathmullen

We stopped at this lovely spot on our little road trip around the Atlantic way, it was a brilliant find. It looked so interesting from outside. The purple building with the craft stall, and sign with frieda kahla. We had two dogs with us and we were allowed to sit outside with them. We were welcomed by the lovely owner, who promptly told us there were fresh scones out of the oven and she had made apple and plum cake fresh that day. We were surprised the menu was vegetarian, but it was not a problem. The food was absolutely delicious!! I got the cheese and onion panini and it had mustard and relish and was so delicious. The cake was phenomenal! I also had a mocha. And it was the best I’d had this whole week! The stall out the front sells the owners crafts, there is lovely adult and children’s clothes. I got a dress for my niece and an apron for myself. I can’t wait to go back on our yearly visit to Downings!

Lovely place for a break, all home cooked, fresh food, great selection of food and a very helpful and friendly service.

Really lovely cafe. We stopped in for delicious homemade cakes and muffins - still warm from the oven! - and teas and coffees. The owner, Sandra, is lovely and chatty and the cafe feels very homely. Very creative space with some of her handmade clothes available to buy, and lovely art on the walls made by her friends and family. Definitely worth seeking out if you’re in the area.
