Had a lovely morning at the Bakehouse. Great outdoor seating area where we were served a delicious breakfast by friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend hiring bikes and cycling along the canal. Will be back! Claire (Sea Dew B&B)

Ballycommon Bakehouse is an absolute gem! From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed by a warm, friendly atmosphere and a beautiful setting. The café itself is cosy and inviting, and the outdoor area is simply perfect for sunny days, peaceful, spacious, and the ideal spot to sit back and relax. One of the things I love most is how dog-friendly it is. After a lovely walk along the nearby canal, it’s wonderful to be able to stop in with your four-legged friend and enjoy a coffee or a delicious meal without any hassle. The food is consistently fantastic, fresh, flavourful, and clearly made with care. Whether you’re popping in for a quick treat or settling in for a relaxed lunch, Ballycommon Bakehouse never disappoints. The staff are genuinely lovely too — always welcoming, attentive, and helpful, which adds to the whole experience. I would absolutely recommend Ballycommon Bakehouse to anyone looking for a great café/restaurant with a relaxed, friendly vibe. It’s a little treasure and well worth a visit!

13/06/2025: Best Goat cheese of my life!! Freshest ingredients that you can taste. Such an incredible dinner we had, our server and manager at the restaurant were also super accommodating and attentive. Truly pleased with the food and service. I also love the marine fisherman theme. I thought it was very quaint while also being upscale and laidback. The parking in front was very small, and i recommend coming earlier so you have time to park if you're not a guest. they also don't have valet service in front but they probably had it elsewhere
30/05/2025: A lovely place for lunch- great food and wonderful service. My only problem: I am a wheelchair user and the disabled toilet is too small to allow a wheelchair user to go in and close the door. I won’t go into the shenanigans that went on involving my husband, the wheelchair, myself and the toilet. Suffice it to say that it was embarrassing. I brought it to the attention of a staff member. Otherwise great place.

21/06/2025: Went for a Friday evening meal here recently. Fabulous venue both inside and out. Really pretty buildings and grounds. Decor is very calming and tables are nicely spaced out. Staff are attentive, professional, friendly and well trained. Food is really delicious. Superbly presented and the ingredients are fresh and flavoursome also in keeping with the season. We started with some homemade breads. Followed by starters of queen scallops and monkfish. Both delicious, fresh and just the right portion size. We then received a complimentary gin and lemon sorbet to cleanse and prep us for main course. I went for Roasted Cod with butter beans and my husband went for beef we got some vegetables on the side. Fish was beautifully cooked. Soft and still really moist but not transparent. Paired really well with the butter beans. (Chef kindly accommodated no butter for me) Beef was absolutely delicious. Again cooked to perfection. We finished with the cheese board ample to share. Definitely worth making a visit and enjoy some really fine dining. Only down side was the restaurant wasn’t overly busy so atmosphere was tempered and the night ended early enough.
14/05/2025: We've been coming here years. Before covid the food had become standard but there have been changes and they have introduced tasting menus in the evening and beautiful sunday lunches and the food is now really good. The menus are good value for what you get (this is fine fining) and the wines and food are delicious. The staff have been constantly professional and friendly. Being part of the tankardstown estate and the beautiful gardens and buildings adds a real feeling of class to the visit. I highly recommend it.
