Couldn't have picked a better breakfast stop on the way to Galway! We both had the smashed avocado toast with poached eggs and sausage, washed down with lattes (one regular, one oat—because balance 😂). Everything was fresh, delicious, and disappeared suspiciously quickly. The staff were cheerful, friendly, and made us feel really welcome from the moment we walked in. If you're passing through Athlone and need breakfast that'll make you seriously consider ordering a second round, Bastion Kitchen is well worth the stop. We'll definitely be back!

I sat on a stool facing the window view of the street with an outdoor dining area. The smashed avocado toast was satisfying to my eyes and appetite. It gave me the energy to walk in the neighborhood and beyond. Bastion Street has colorful buildings and shops. I continued to walk to Shannon Banks Nature Trail. Vhuntermassage LLC

Food was outstanding, I have celiac disease food was delicious and gluten free. My son loved the food and the amazing chocolate brownie, he is picky and he said it was the best he has ever had.

The service was exceptional, and the breakfast was amazing. A huge plus is that you can bring your pet along. There are five tables inside, plus window seats. There are also a few tables outside. There's plenty of parking around the building.

This was the best and most fresh tasting meal on my entire trip to Ireland. I’d happily go back for the chicken pesto wrap.

One of those amazing moments yesterday where a random stop off the highway turns out to be perfect. Wonderful food and spectacular coffee in magical little spot next to the river. Best lunch we had in Ireland.

Wonderful cafe with gluten free options! Really good portion sizes and delicious food. I had the avocado toast and it was unreal! Highly recommend.
