The tea rooms are absolutely charming and beautifully located, but unfortunately the food quality does not live up to the prices. On both occasions I visited, I left somewhat disappointed. For example, charging €15 for a French toast feels quite unreasonable given the standard offered. It’s such a shame, because the place itself is lovely and full of character, but they should really consider improving the food quality or adjusting the prices to match the experience.

UPDATED REVIEW. SEEMS LIKE A CHEF CHANGE HAS OBLITERATED THE QUALITY OF THE BREAKFAST. Really you would be disappointed if you got this quality from a petrol station deli. Cheaper ingredients used, especially the sausages and bacon. One egg was like a fake rubber one and the other was just about cooked. Lovely place. The food was pretty decent but not 5 star. Great coffee. You can buy grounds to take home also. Could definitely do with a bit more orgisation during busy times. Seating to food serving time 40mins last Saturday. Nice though.

Food was amazing and we got to sit outside which is beautiful. The staff were very friendly but it was very busy so it was kind of slow at times. Other than that id highly recommend it

Have been to Bective Tea Rooms a few times. It is a lovely venue and the food is nice, but the overall experience is starting to wane. For my latest visit, it was nearly an hour between queuing for a table and actually getting served. We were asked to take a seat outside due to the length of the queue, but promptly forgotten about once we asked for menus. The food was nice, but too much on the dear side to be considered good value. The place is doing very well, but in my opinion unless you can commit to having 2-3 hours free and be under no time pressure, it is not worth it for a bit of lunch.

13/09/2025: Sometimes the Nurturer needs nurturing. And boy did I pick the right place. Mary, Ina and staff gave me the warmest welcome and went above and beyond to make sure I had a lovely stay. I'd like to say it was home from home, but home was never like this ! The food was amazing. They didn’t skimp on quality, only the best of ingredients and plenty of. The fry was amazing in the morning. The rooms are lovely and homely, with extra amenities, water, tissues, shampoo, gel, big fluffy towels etc and most importantly with a big JACUSSI bath in each!! Omg I didn't realise the jets could be that strong and effective. My aching muscles thank you Hanoras Cottage. Left there so relaxed and refreshed and ready to face the world/kids again. Can't praise this place highly enough. Contact them for a break. Mention my review if you like. They have great rates. You deserve it.
