Great Irish pub right in the city center with a really warm atmosphere. There are lots of nice little rooms inside, which makes it feel cozy and gives you plenty of spots to sit depending of the vibe you want. Without forgetting the live music, and a handy smoking area. Food was very good overall, the chorizo and cheese fries were especially generous and delicious, worth ordering, the only downside for me was the food special, pulled pork sandwich, 21e felt a bit expensive for what it was, lots of bread compared to the amount of filling. That said, everything else was spot on, service was perfect.

The Schoolhouse Bar

17/01/2026: Brilliant location, great comfortable room, great breakfast
11/01/2026: Our first stay at the Schoolhouse, but definitely not our last!! It was a fantastic stay. From the moment we walked through the doors, we were greeted by friendly staff, who were welcoming, kind and warm. Check in was simple, as was check out and loved the room key we were given, so much more character than a plastic card! Our room was modern but also in keeping with the beautiful style of this historic building. The food was delicious, in such gorgeous surroundings. The bar was spacious, again I want to emphasise the wonderful staff. The hotel is in a great spot, with very easy access to lots of different amenities. I would highly recommend the Schoolhouse to anyone for a stay, and will absolutely return in the future- if I could give it more than 5 stars I would!

Purty Kitchen

13/02/2026: Always a safe bet for really good food and a very nice location- however last night the service wasn’t great - had to ask for menus after waiting about 15 minutes at the table - requested condiments were forgotten about and had to chase the bill and then chase payment - staff were pleasant but went missing on occasion. Still a nice evening and always a good option.
09/02/2026: Had a really lovely experience at The Purty Kitchen. The atmosphere is cosy and welcoming, with that perfect mix of traditional pub charm and relaxed dining. The food was genuinely excellent — fresh, well cooked, and clearly made with care. Everything we ordered was full of flavour and beautifully presented. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing, which made the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable. It’s the kind of place you can settle into for a long lunch or a relaxed evening and not feel rushed. A great spot in Dún Laoghaire — would happily return and definitely recommend to anyone looking for good food and a warm, laid-back vibe.
